  1. Past hour
  2. We can't just sit in the final third and expect to clear the ball out for 20 more minutes can we?
  3. crap - now down to 10 players. I could see that certainly being a yellow but I didn't see how it met the level of red. And that also means if we win this game he misses the next game. That sucks so much.
  4. Ugh - But still no team has put the ball in the net against the Zips even though that one counts.
  5. There goes the shutout streak. I knew that couldn't last forever. At least it ended when we were up by more than one.
  6. Great teams make good teams pay for their mistakes.
  7. Great header but terrible defense. Nobody was marking him when he scored the goal. Go Zips!!!!
  8. Beautiful header by Matt Dreas. 2-0 Zips! I will try not to dwell on the fact it should be 3-0. 😊
  9. Today
  10. EXACTLY <smh>. Velocity is the shooter's friend on those. Seems to me far more saves have been made on PKs in the playoffs on those I'm-going-to-overthink-this-and-try-to-fool-you soft attempts.
  11. Not an ideal penalty kick…. why not just kick it hard and in the corner….
  12. I will be shocked if this is not a PK.
  13. The first part of correcting a problem is admitting there is one to begin with. I don't think there is much mistaking the fact that the decision makers at the top are the ones who over the last ~25 years put us in a strain both financially and athletically. But no let's continue to deny there are any deeper problems. After all we're apparently to some just 1 coach away from from winning 10 games each year and winning the MAC championship for the next decade. Maybe even sneak into the playoffs once or twice. It's literally insanity to just keep going down the same road of bringing in coaches without also attempting to address the deeper concerns that are facing the program. You mention all Duke's, Kansas, etc of the world. I'm willing to bet all those programs can at least afford a training table for their athletes and probably have money for proper nutrition plans. If you're not holding the administration accountable for things, including the Icoach and Arth hires) and nothing it actively being done to improve them how is the situation ever to improve? Edit: I shared above how Kennesaw State has seen a recent boom in enrollment and what has followed was an increase in athletics. If we want a healthy athletic department, we need a more financially sound academic institution. What I would have to hear about is how are they rapidly increasing their enrollments and is there anything they're doing that we can replicate.
  14. Jack was so far ahead there. You would have sworn he was offsides but it wasn't even close.
  15. No, some people at the school have to change their commitments.
  16. KSU fires their CH during the season and yet ends up with exactly the same record as Akron. I have been and will continue to maintain that Akron can not compete at the DI level unless some huge changes in commitment are coming from the Administration. Simply changing the HC might make some feel better. But that alone won't get long term improvement.
  17. Kent State hired the right guy and has some momentum and a little hope. We have been continually told that this is impossible at Akron, so we just have to deal.
  18. With a fantastic assist I'm going to give that one to you. 😉
  19. I know it's been said before but Thomas O'Rourke's improvement this season has been pretty amazing.
  20. Puzzling to me. KSU was branded as the worst team in the MAC. Fire their HC during the season. Then got hot. Finished 5-7 overall, 4-4 in the MAC AND beat the Zips. Akron finishes 5-7, 4-4 after how many years. Someone please help me with this.
  21. 2K would be excellent given this weather. It's 33° with snow on the ground, 2 weeks from winter solstice. It's only 10 degrees warmer in Cary, NC.
  22. I'm not dismissing the 2004/2005 accomplishments. I was as damn excited as ANYBODY. I have been watching these guys since th late '60s. Owens finally had the program moving back in a positive direction. I'm not knocking JD. But after the '05 season and things started regressing he even said they got lucky before they got good. And he said he took some chances on recruits who were good athletes but bad citizens i.e. David Harvey. Back then they didn't have a defense. Cost them games. Shoot if I thought JD could do it again I would hire him.
  23. What a perfect pass from Stefan to Jack Roman for a beautiful goal. Perfect timing to not be offsides!
  24. Figures that I can't watch it though because it requires an ESPN+ subscription in addition to my cable. Thanks anyhow. Guess I will just follow the game tracker.
  25. Pretty unbelievable that the lowest seed in the pod was able to get three home matches.
