lol....can't even compete in the NIT. Hilarious. Dambrot has zero significant wins for this program. Never a big game upset. Never been competitive in the post season. Plays a soft schedule to pad Ws just to flame out year over year in the very weak MAC conference tournament. Never produced a big time player. Very little impact recruits. Dominates the MAC, one of the weakest conferences in the entire NCAA. But hey...keep getting those 20 win seasons in a HS gym.3 points

... is the NCAA, by chance, also experimenting with a 'mercy' rule in the NIT?3 points

I see a great team playing with passion. I see a large energized and fully engaged fan base. I see a really beautiful venue. Love the way UTA plays the game. We suck...........3 points

UT Arlington looks like a team that should have gotten an invite to the NCAA tournament.3 points

They are a FAR superior team. It really is sad to see how much more athletic a sun belt team is compared to us.3 points

If the answer was that simple we'd have the best football team in the MAC.2 points

Ugly way to end the season. Further proof that the Zips were the best regular season team in a bad conference.2 points

This post is riddled with erroneous information, but I'm too damn tired to do it anymore. Just find another program to cheer for if it's that bad.1 point

I have a novel idea. How about they give the Top 4 spots in each region to the best 4 teams? Not the ones who think they are above all of it, and the committee is scared that they might turn down the bid if they aren't given a home game? Let them all go home and watch the postseason, just once, and I'm sure they'd change their minds.1 point

Not sure why anyone is worrying about us not contending next year - it's the MAC. The question is, do we grow or regress? If you're focused on competing in the MAC, you're going to regress. If you're focused on competing at the national stage, you're going to grow. I don't care who we have coming back, who we don't have coming back, etc. It is the coaching staff's (led by the head coach) job to bring in new talent and develop the current talent to grow and reach the next level. It is also their job to put a system in place that gives the players the best chance to succeed. We shall see what happens. As for last night...1 point

I agree that UTA played great, but the Zips had some role in that. Turnovers, lack of energy, silly mistakes.... UTA was good, but they are not Gonzaga or Creighton on their best day. In the end, I think maybe we got what some expected in the Houston game- a down and unmotivated Zips squad.1 point

UTA deserved an NCAA at-large bid. They had 8 losses and half were to NCAA bound teams plus the wins over Texas and St. May's (and Mt St Marys who also made the tournament). Their OOC was solid they got bit by losing to a few OK conference schools. You almost have to go undefeated in conference as a mid-major. Maybe the NCAA needs a rule that you have to go at least .500 in your own conference to get selected. Mid-majors are going to get screwed over forever in the current format. UTA was way underseeded. I think they have an excellent shot at winning the NIT. I want to see a final of them vs Illinois and have them absolutely smoke Illinois (who is the only seed higher than 4 still left). Yeah that was a fair seeding process. Despite all the wailing and gnashing of teeth I think the Zips lost to a very good team.1 point

It would be a nice gesture to put the bench players in, at least the senior bench player who have not played since the MAC started.1 point

We certainly need bigger, faster, stronger players. I don't know how we can get them, but we won't take the next step without them.1 point

Feels like I am watching Zips football in March @SpinDavies: Embarrassing performance tonight from Akron. Can't believe this team, the seniors especially, is going out on this note. #NIT1 point

Good lord. This is why it's so difficult to be an enthusiastic, up beat Zips fan. You go out and win a game that was neck-and-neck and then immediately get blown out in a tournament that means nothing. The Zips always play good enough to be pretenders but that's just what the Zips are, pretenders.1 point

So Ball is coming back and Woodson will be QB? And Chapman is a wide receiver now?1 point

And they're doing this to us without their 2nd-leading scorer. I'll tell ya, maybe it's good we're getting completely exposed like this. I was one of the ones who posted after the YSU loss that we were in for a disappointing season and that we weren't that good. Well, then we dominated the MAC. But that was fool's gold. The MAC was awful. It allowed us to continue the illusion of being a good team. This game is rightfully exposing our weaknesses and showing that we have plateaued and that this program is not moving forward. KD truly has to shake things up.1 point

How good can they be? They're a 6 seed in the freaking NIT!1 point

We need to play the ball through Big Dog. Another poor start. Reminds me of the last game against Kent. Need to play better before this gets out of hand.1 point

Thanks for the documentation, Hilltopper! At every turn it is reinforced that, if we're truly a D-1 program, we simply have to have a new facility. Otherwise, lets just play Walsh & Mount Union.1 point

The offer list is quite large and all of them certainly aren't listed on here. As of today we are aware of 3 commits for the class of 2018. Keyondre White, 3 Star RB from FL. 247 link Hudl link Devanier Floyd, RB from Akron East. Hudl Ronald Beasley, assuming recruited as an OL, from FL. Hudl1 point

I'm more than happy to see some seating surrendered at the JAR to improve the facility. Other than the Kent game, they don't fill the seats they have and an improvement to the facility may result in a jump in attendance but it would be short lived. My design strategy would be that no seat should be at a distance greater than a male cheerleader can throw a Gionino's t-shirt or a Taylor Made Jewelry mini-basketball.1 point
