I was able to attend a few of the August scrimmages, so you could compare his arm strength and accuracy to his three competitors (Kato/Johns/Kelley). His opportunities were limited because he was definitely redshirting in 2017 and the other guys needed to audition, but he noticeably stood out. You will like him.3 points

Congratulations to Barth on his first career goal as a zip and Congratulations to Tor on his first shutout as a zip.3 points

boo freakin' hoo. I question your credibility if you think a redshirt freshman is better to lead this team than somebody who was well on their way to owning every Akron passing record before missing the majority of their junior season with injury, you are a better talent evaluater than the coaching staff, and you constantly come on here and clamor for Stewart getting more time when the coach has said repeatedly he has been injured and was even the #1 WR before the injury. Your relative is better buds with the redshirt freshman because they started the same year and is therefore calling for him because he shows some potential. I. Am. Shocked.2 points

After that disaster at Trinidad & Tobago, this was a nice read this morning from U17 USMNT Head Coach, John Hackworth, who is leading his team in the U!7 WC in India. The link is to...2 points

All time series has WMU with 14 wins Akron with 3 (one in 1938?). As most have heard 2007 was maybe the most exciting Akron football finish of all time as Andre Jones ran back a punt for a TD and a 1 point win (39-38) as time ran out in Kalamazoo. We also had several of our worst defeats by this team, especially the game coached by Ianello in 2011. Last year was very disappointing too. WMU is very good, but is Akron on the rise despite the loss of two of our best players? Maybe, as 33 (or more counting all) other starters on the O, D, and special teams appear to be getting better as the season rolls on. Let's hope it's a good game to watch and Akron has a shot at winning at the end. Go Zips!1 point

Apparently I am clueless, I do believe if we win they will come, I was saying if we contend for East we have to meet the standard right? We only need 30k for next 3 games. I apparently am not a very good writer & don’t get my thought across very well. Sorry for that but I certainly didn’t want to start this argument again LOL1 point

No he made the throws into the wind. He struggled with putting too much air under the ball when it was at his back and over throwing his receivers. Bowden also said having the wind at O'Leary's back was why he decided to kick the 48 yd field goal. He figured it would make the fg fairly easy but the fact it was 48 yrds would give Tom some confidence going forward.1 point

Exactly. Imho there shouldn't even be athletics budgets. It/they should all be categorized under Advertising.1 point

Attendance requirement is irrelevant TBH. Averaging 15k fans at the ticket prices Akron charges isn't some magical break even number in terms of revenue meeting expenses. Its already well documented that schools that don't meet the 15k fans fudge the numbers so that's no barrier whatsoever. The barrier is whether schools feel the deficit a program runs will be offset by advertising, alumni relations, college atmosphere, etc. that college athletics brings to the University.1 point

Who is calling for that? The attendance requirement should just be done away with. It is a requirement that is easily finagled and no D1 program is going to lose their D1 status for attendance. The NCAA doesn't have the hair. A lot more programs than just Akron are in this boat.1 point

I have had the same thought and you could probably run this if you lined Chapman up in the backfield, too.1 point

Assuming the invested candidates remain in Akron in 2018, there will be an extremely interesting battle for the starting QB position. Kato is the leading candidate at this time, but Alex Ramart is really really good. I'll enjoy the Zips 2017 stretch run, and think about '18 in a couple months....1 point

You make it sound far more subjective than it actually is. Woodson is rhe #2 all time passing TD leader for the Zips, even with missing a lot of last season. He is an excellent pocket passer and I have heard players say that Woodson's football IQ is extremely high, something Bowden has stated over the last week. Kato has some talent but not the maturity or decision-making ti be a starter. I think Ramart is nore likely the QB of the future, however.1 point

The NY post? Seriously? Not only is this not the "peer-reviewed research" you are constantly clamoring for, but a tabloid?!1 point

He missed practice most of the week with a foot injury, so I wouldn't read anything into it just yet.1 point

They do??!?! I was unable to watch anything live on the CBSSports app last season on my FireTV. Hopefully they joined the 21st century and changed that. Regardless, I'll be recording and watching after. Taking my concealed carry license class on Saturday @Balsy. Too many crazies in this world.0 points
