  1. The Huskies come to Akron Saturday as the second game of a doubleheader with the women's team. The Huskies are 11-8 overall and 4-2 in the MAC. They have wins over OU, Miami, the Zips and Buffalo, with losses to Central and PCCC. As you will recall, the Zips took a huge dump in DeKalb going from a 34-25 halftime lead to a 73-56 loss. Huskies' scoring is led by 6 foot junior guard Eugene German's 20.6 ppg while 6'9" senior forward Lacey James leads rebounding at 7 rpg. The Huskies will be feeling their oats coming off of their upset of #14 Buffalo last night.

  3. Why the hell did we start standing at the half court line until 10 seconds left in the shot clock with over 5 minutes remaining?!? This team sucks at offense! We need to keep running plays!

  5. NIU is a tough place for any visiting team. The place is like a big cavern with a strange floor and bad lighting. Throw in the fact that there are usually about 2-300 actual body's in the seats and it's easy for a team to feel like they are playing in a scrimmage.

  6. I also saw Riak pulled each time he shot the 3 ball. I liked how they got yanked. I noticed on the box score that LCJ only played 23 minutes. I would like to keep those minutes where they are until he starts making the 3 ball or starts taking better shots. When he is off, Utomi is off, and our centers are offensively challenged, we are only getting scoring from Cheese and Ivey and we struggle. Cheese is doing a good job running the point. I thought Jackson did well beating the press and handling the ball, expecially at the end of the game.

  8. I think Utomi will come around. I've noticed in recent games at the JAR that teams are not sagging off of him for help defense. They've figured out he's the top shooting threat so they are not sagging for help defense when the ball is on the other side of the floor. As a result, he's not getting as many open looks.

  9. Excited for this one too! Go Zips!!

  10. Coach Stroud is headed to Coral Gables with Manny Diaz at the U. Diaz worked with Stroud in Raleigh. Coach Stroud, developed a number of notable players. Back in 2006 when he was at NC State, three of Stroud's linemen– Mario Williams, Manny Lawson, and John McCargo – were first round selections in the NFL Draft. I wish him all the success in the world. One of the top two football minds that I have had the pleasure of knowing, and talking football with at Akron. I visit the Miami area often, and now have a good reason to see a game there.

  12. I think Sayles wore out his welcome last night when a CMU got an offensive rebound on a free throw by just going around him. I watched E-man last night and he actually seeks out a guy to put his body on before he goes for a rebound. He needs to teach Sayles.

  14. Well, another ugly win, but I'm not giving it back. Awful night for Utomi, yet he played 33 minutes. It was pretty obvious the coaching staff was fed up quickly with Jaden tonight. Riak was more of a rebounding and defensive presence tonight. Cheese should play at least 30 minutes a game from here out. He's the only guy on the team aggressive with the ball.
