  1. No need to apologize for caring. That's the mark of a real fan. Your original post just had the sound of a kid telling his mom that the kids at school were making fun of his clothes! Also, don't lump me into that one Balsy. They're only 4 games in and were hamstrung in recruiting by their late start. If I don't see improvement this season, better recruiting in the offseason and a substantial improvement next season, I'll be with you, but for now it is premature.

  2. Hot take: We absolutely 100% are the worst team in D1. We are lucky we didn't schedule a 1AA. "Trusting the process" leaves little to be optimistic about.

  3. In the post-game, Arth said how proud he was of him for his effort. That tells me he tried to suck it up but has been hurt.

  4. seriously, what is the point of all this negativity you bring to this board? No one here makes any hiring decisions. You and a few others have made your points ad nauseam.

  5. Having been on around Frenchy on a basketball trip, I can tell you he gets irritated quite easily. Gibson was #1 QB from Georgia. Looks like Arth had him for UTC, and he then signed with Akron. I wonder if he will start against Kent. I'm not a Kato fan, so if Gibson is the real deal I look forward to him starting next season over Kato.

  6. Yall need to stop with that criticize the fans BS The problem is the pee poor quality on the field. Why in da hell would I drive from Maryland to see us get our ass kicked on homecoming? Until the team starts winning the Zips are not worth the price of admission. And if you want to criticize anyone other than the team it starts with the damn students who indirectly have to pay for that BS out of their tuition and fees. And the homers in here who defended the hiring and over-hyping of this mediocre coach get an honorable mention too.

  10. Those points are on the coaching staff. Kick the damn ball deep and go into the half down 3 and get the ball 1st to start the 2nd. I really just don't get it.

  11. Nice drive. We've been moving the ball nicely all game. Need more Burton, less Lee. The negative plays are killer. No more inexcusable turnovers and D needs to tighten up and we got this.

  12. No, I'm not happy about this. I'm absolutely miserable that I can't wear my Zips stuff with pride and talk to my students/other people about the Zips...or get excited about the Zips. "Mr. B how'd the Zips do this weekend" ... "they lost...again". I'm just waiting for all the hypocrites to come out of the woodwork and try to defend losing to 0-4 UMass. Hopefully the Zips will prove me wrong and find a way to win this. Experience has taught me not to hold my breath.

  17. Next time you visit don't worry about not having a parking permit. Odds are you won't get a ticket to begin with and if you do a quick call to parking services will result in the ticket being rescinded. Just tell them you are an alumni making a visit. Also there is no parking enforcement during the first 3 weeks of each semester and as long as the ticket you receive is your first there is no penalty anyways. Just a warning that the next ticket will result in a fine.

  20. It's been that way since I was on campus in 2008. I remember I used to try to drum up support for going to athletic games to all my incoming students when I worked in New Student Orientation; I'd hand out the sports schedules and give out posters for them to hang in their dorms and stuff...but I've never seen a campus-wide effort to drum up attending stuff other than the 2-/3-ish year stint of "Roo-Wards" which sorta worked it's first year and then fizzled out quickly because the guy who created it moved on to greener pastures because Akron never attempts to keep it's own.

  23. I made a random trip there back in late august after attending the Browns Preseason opener. Stopping in Akron Friday morning I literally could not find a place to park on campus near the student union or Bierce library as I was looking for somewhere to work remotely for the day. Empty student permit only parking garages and roped off metered parking. To make matters more irritating I paid a visit to the team store at InfoCision Stadium only to find out it was basically closed for the Summer. As I was walking back to my car I noticed someone else being turned away by the Closed Sign at the store. So I walk down the street to the Campus Supply store where I have bought Akron gear for years from only to discover they have now went full Greek only selling Greek gear. So I ended up going downtown to Akron's Wonderful Public Library where i searched for 10 minutes for a working outlet to plug my laptop in but thats a whole other story. The point I am making is that UA does a pee poor job marketing athletics and making that campus friendly to fans/alums. Why is it so hard to purchase an Akron football jersey along with other gear? We should not have to resort to going to Ebay to find Akron gear from student athletes and staff who anonymously sell their gear on there. The last successful ad marketing campaign UA Athletics did was Charlie Frye for Heisman and im not bullshittin. Hoban played St. Vincent-St. Mary tonight at InfoCision Stadium and I bet they there more people at that game than Any Akron home game and thats the problem. The disconnect between the Football program and Community is beyond embarrassing and it goes back to what I been saying on here all along. You have a powerhouse dynasty program up the road (Hoban) and don't take advantage. End Rant

  26. UMass's Bilal Ally runs for 180 yards, but Kato's 4 TD's, 3 passing, 1 rushing, offset it. Zips win by 9.

  28. I look forward to the first win of the season. It will not be pretty, but it will be a close game (less than 7), weak running game (less than 90), and the low scoring option. Go Zips.

  32. Meh...it's the age we live in. Players constantly transfer. He did get a couple minutes of PT, but so do a lot of true freshman now-a-days. They can play 4 games before getting shut down for their redshirt. We presently have a lot of true freshman logging big minutes in the secondary. If he wasn't, then the writing was probably on the wall that he'd be better off elsewhere.
