  1. Garvin's confidence is growing with each game. He's becoming a weapon out there.

  2. Maybe slightly but I don't really see that. Just about everyone is dropping 80 plus on BG. Hell, Buffalo had 112, Ball State 91 and Miami 94 in just the last two weeks. I do like your optimism though, hopefully we show up big tonight.

  3. I was previously of the thought that, if we had Trimble during that first OU game, we would've won. I still think we needed Trimble in that game with where the team was at, and thought we'd be able to take them next matchup with Trimble. Now that Trimble's gone and the offense has learned how to play with more cohesiveness, I think we win this one.

  4. This forum will talk about marketing, new arenas, and the zips logo until the end of time, but its all just complaints without any real solutions IMO. How do you finance the new arena? How do you make football games a "community event"? How do you improve "marketing"? I just care about winning in athletics and I care about running a fiscally sound university that provides a quality education and isn't an embarrassment. If we're doing that, its hard not to believe some of this stuff will solve itself. I attended a board meeting for an org this morning, and educational institution in fact. The CEO was stressing they need to shrink and stabilize before they can grow. We've done that university wide the past year or so. Looking forward to better days.

  6. One of the best halves for the Zips all year. Everyone is playing well. Great passing and sharing the ball. We only had one shot at the end of the shot clock. However, I know this game will get closer in the 2nd half. The Zips have to keep the peddle to the metal in the 2nd half. I like to trapping defense.

  7. I’ll take that first half. Offensive flow looks so much better sans Trimble.

  9. Senior night for the Bobcats. I wonder what's happened with Lunden McDay, the SVSM grad who was starting for OU. He opened the season with them then was off for personal reasons and I don't think he's ever returned. It didn't sound like a KJ Walton "taking his ball and going home" situation.

  10. While I do agree people like to complain and don't want to offer real solutions, I do feel there have been some ideas that have been presented in the past. For example, people have been saying for years that the JAR should sell alcohol. Why did Akron have to wait until a pandemic wiped out 30%-40%, maybe more, of season ticket holders to make that small change? I do agree there is no simple solutions. If there was then other schools like Bowling Green, Kent, Miami (OH) would have found it. One can argue Akrons leadership has been incompetent, but literally all Midwestern non-big 10 schools are struggling so it's not just an Akron problem.

  11. This reminds me of the debate on if we should build at the time one of the largest on campus Rec Centers in the country vs what our enrollment was back then. 17 years later would you say the Rec Center has been a success?

  12. Te’Sean looked to be “as advertised” when I saw him, albeit this was only watching the state finals and semifinals on TV. He is a lot like Jennings and Novak in that he is at the helm of a program that is less than a traditional power and is the leader on a team that took that program to unexpected heights. I really think that is the type of guys Akron, and really most of the MAC, would benefit from looking toward in the recruiting process. Getting guys from programs like Hoban and St. Ignatius or Massillon is good, don’t get me wrong, but you wonder how much was the program and how much was the player whereas at a school like Western Brown or Reynoldsburg th see guys we’re part of a culture change And change in expectation of the program by those outside the program. The Zips need this kind of change in the MAC and the MAC needs this kind of change in the Group of Five while the Group of Five needs this kind of change in the FBS.

  13. The script Akron logo makes me sad. The fact that EMU and WMU’s logos are worse, helps a tiny bit. WMU has that cool-ass Bronco, and chooses to go with a “block W” inside a circle!? Only five home games makes me sad. But three home games in October, with nearby Kent being one of the other two…and then EMU at home the following week helps a lot! 5-of-6 consecutive early fall games at, or within 9 miles of InfoCision! Joe coaching the team makes me happy. For the first time in 4 years, tailgating at InfoCision won’t be akin to putting on a brave face at a family member’s funeral. Go Zips!

  14. I agree tOSU owns the state especially when it comes to football. Everyone else needs to do something BIG to even get on the radar. I hope and pray JM is it. We need someone who’s going to stick around, not necessarily a player who is gone in a couple years. A football or basketball version of Caleb Porter. But IMO that alone won’t take eyes off of the Worthless Nuts.

  15. For those who complain about no marketing to alumni, the home page of uakron.edu has a list of upcoming alumni events. One is in Cleveland. Have fun.

  16. ORIGAINALLY, I thought you were uder the influence of some mind-altering substance, but now I see the light. Let's aim for the ACC and if we miss we can settle for the Big Ten.

  17. The problem in NEO is that all of the grill cooks insist on breaking their eggs at the same time and as a result everything ends up a mess at the same time. There's absolutely no coordination between the powers that be. It's ridiculous.

  18. 2023 East Exchange Street Corridor • Roadway deterioration, traffic signals old • Heavily used pedestrian corridor • High vehicle corridor including buses • Missing link between bicycle accommodations • Mesh with University Park Neighborhood Plan • Full depth pavement replacement • Sidewalks and pedestrian crossings reconstruction • Maintain two full through lanes in each direction • Allow for adequate turn lanes • New traffic signals • Upgraded lighting to accommodate all users including Route 8 underpass • Provide bike lanes on each side of the street • Parking in key locations Benefits • Roadway in good repair providing proper capacity • Well-lit, safe corridor • Traffic signal equipment using efficient, modern technology improving traffic flow. • Provide missing link for bicycle lanes, connecting Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail This need to happen now not next year.

  19. If we look at kenpom (as it shows previous years rankings) Toledo is #87 and Ohio is #106. Last season the top 3 MAC teams were #74, #77, and #81. That means last year the MAC had 3 teams better than this years Toledo team. I'd say the MAC is down a crossed the board, top to bottom. Edit: you have to go back to 2017 to find a year that the MAC top ranked team was ranked worse than what Toledo is currently.

  20. Playtime is over. Akron needs a new basketball arena like it needs a hole in the head. Half full arenas have become the norm everywhere except for a few elite programs. Akron is half full and that isn't going to change because our society has changed. Wake has a 15,000 seat arena and I don't care what was published, there weren't more than 8,000 people against second place Notre Dame. The disaster that was the NCAA facilities spending is over. Make the best of the current arena. The City of Akron needs an arena like it needs two holes in the head. It needs to attract taxpayers living in the City and jobs to the City. This is where the real money comes from. Arenas never cover their costs and are almost guaranteed money losers. Basically, they are empty buildings costing taxpayers money for their entire life. This isn't a difficult decision. Akron doesn't need another public works project. Finally, it's been a while since I've been in Akron and the Main Street project had been ongoing for a while. I can't believe it's still going on. What a disaster.... Does anyone think the idiots who brought you this disaster will turn a new arena into anything other than a bigger disastee? WAKE UP!!!!

  21. Remaining Schedules (likely result per ESPN BPI ). I don't see a way that we don't end up facing UB in round one. The Toledo/UB game should decide the #2 seed, unless the Zips can pull the upset Friday. Kent also owns the tie breaker with Toledo, so a Zips upset Friday combined with a Rockets loss to Buffalo could potentially give Kent the regular season championship via tiebreakers w/OU and UT. Toledo 24-7 (16-4): vs Miami (W, 93.7%) @ UB (L, 50.5%) vs BGSU (W, 92.6%) Ohio 26-5 (17-3) vs Akron (W, 71.4%) @ BGSU (W, 68%) @ NIU (W, 84.8%) Kent 21-9 (16-4) @ CMU (W, 88.5%) @ NIU (W, 82.7%) vs UB (W, 67.9%) Buffalo 20-9 (14-5) @ NIU (W, 84.3%) vs NIU (W, 95.4%) vs UT (W, 50.5%) @ Kent (L, 67.9%) Akron 20-10 (13-7) @ OU (L, 71.4%) @ BSU (W, 70.2%) vs CMU (W, 95.7%)

  22. Nothing like having to read about....well....let's call it "The Marshall Double Cross" every few years. We (by "We" I mean someone other than me) should start a poll guessing the over/under on the years until their next conference move. We could coin ODU and Southern Mississippi "The Desperate Duo". Someone has to explain to me the importance of the Hattiesburg television market because I must have missed something. Heck, Jackson State has become a more important team in central MS than South Miss. Schools like these three are just filler for desperate conference leaders who are looking to pad their resume and move on to the next opportunity. I know how interesting these conference moves may seem, but when you look at them closely, almost every team moving is acting out of desperation. That's never a good place to be. I'll stick with the MAC.

  24. The game will be broadcast on 850AM WKNR. Albeit with Ohio’s broadcasters. Not sure why they signed with OU instead of one of the four NE Ohio D1 programs.
