  1. As I understand it May 1st is the deadline to enter the portal without having to sit out a year. This means we should theoretically be done seeing players transfer out. Groce now needs to work his magic and land us 2 forwards to fill out the roster.

  2. Ones look to be the following: LT. Grey LG. Banes C. Georges RG. Robarge RT. Williams Twos looked like the following: LT. Daniels LG. Lyons C. Beckman RG. Kilbane RT. Chambers Things to note: In second half of spring game they switched Daniels into the ones for Grey. Makes me think there is still a position battle going on there. Will be curious where Penn State transfer Whigan will play when he arrives. Gotta think he will challenge for a starting position somewhere. Line looked decent today. Irons had all day to pass and never took off and ran which was very un-Irons like from last year. However, his throws seemed to be late an multiple plays. The offensive did not run the ball much so it was difficult to tell how well the OL was run blocking.

  3. Love the move by JoeMo. Atmosphere in the field house was great, and the game itself was simple and quick. I thought Irons looked pretty good. Ant Williams and Cam Wiley looked great out of the backfield. Adams and Grimes all over the place in the secondary. Bubba stuck out to me on offense. Norrils could’ve been better. I like the direction of this team, and today was a great day to be a Zip! Hopefully the guys can put a lot of good work in this summer, this is going to be a special few years.

  4. Agreed. I didn’t see that one coming. As stated yesterday, I thought both Irons and Marousek did some good things in the SG, but both also had their head scratcher throws. It was my first time seeing Marousek live and he didn’t have the kind of zip on his passes I expected, but it was still enough to get the job done. I was firmly in the camp of another QB needing to be brought in after yesterday and before this transfer news. I hate that Marousek is leaving, as he could be serviceable, but on the same side of things we would probably struggle if he had to play too many meaningful minutes.

  5. A few thoughts here: many coaches don't much value a TE or use them effectively. A physical TE is another blocker, another receiver, another passer; another threat for the defense to consider. Think Heath Miller for the Steelers!; Cutting TEs won't free up scholarship money because not all of them got any; I like 2TE sets to make the defense edgy; Rotation of three or more TE players has the defense thinking...trick play? Some play we haven't seen? Rather than Oh, hum, same 2 guys. We got this; TEs force the defense to cover the mid yardage bubble, creating less pressure elsewhere; TEs can line up in several positions making them versatile/flexible for more creative play construction. A TE that's a physical blocker, can run, catch, and throw (yep, I said throw) would be a dangerous weapon. Tight ends don’t receive as much credit as the quarterback, running back, or wide-receivers, but they arguably do more work than all of them when used effectively.

  6. I’m not surprised, my guess we will be getting one soon. Hopefully

  8. I've driven by MSU. It's a soulless stadium on a soulless campus.

  11. Great galleries. thank you. I did not see myself in any of the gallery photos which is probably a good thing. Thanks again.

  12. Typical Spring Game phenomena, on any given play you don't know whether to cheer or to groan. 😂

  13. There ya go. They were probably wanting the energy of a full house as opposed to an empty Info. Better for the players' psyches both today and with moving into the off-season.

  15. I attended all the events and the football game was the least enjoyable. The game apparently started early, was cramped and crowded and I stayed for a very short time. I guess one of the reasons for holding it inside is the condition of the turf outside. I'll accept that since I know it is being replaced in a few weeks. It was a nice day to be outside and watch the other events. 🙂

  16. Moorhead wanted it inside also. If he wanted it outside, they would have made it work. I am bummed, but I get it. I would imagine it has to do with practicing inside for every practice so far, and the turf at the stadium is sh*t compared to the field house. Plus lax. It’s a great day to be a Zip whether they’re in Infocision or the Norton Middle School auditorium.

  18. Before the Caden Clark & Daniel George signings, were the the 69th ranked Transfer Class in college football and 110th overall (between recruits and transfers) according to 247. I'd imagine both give us a healthy bump. The impact of the experience on this staff cannot be understated. Guthrie absolutely nailed this hire, and Moorhead filled his staff perfectly. There are not many G5 schools that can offer the facilities and playing time opportunities that Akron can, and no other G5 program can offer what this coaching staff can. Ohio sports betting won't be legal yet before this season, but if there's a bet for the most improved college football team, I'd take Akron.
