Very versatile lineup here. Shammah could play on the wing. Marvin could play in the post. Tribble could run the point.4 points

Offer out to former 4 star IOL Finn Dirstine. Boston College grad transfer. Played in 14 games while at BC.3 points

I have a hard time believing Tavari gets pushed back that much. I see Thornton and Tribble sharing time at the 2 spot and Dawson, Nate and Marvin at the 3 spot. We could be looking at a team ready to run for 40 minutes a game with 4 guard line-ups. Especially if we pick up one more guard. Also, if Groce uses the last scholarship on a senior, I predict he is already in the process of recruiting a full 5 player class right now for next year. Selling a bunch of next level talent on playing together. He was in the process of doing that at Illinois the year he was let go.2 points

Does Groce need to apologize when the Zips acquire another MAC player? Are we becoming NIU's "Marshall?" Or do the Huskies just figure "He's going to transfer anyhow...might as well be to a MAC program"? Solid, but not spectacular offensive numbers. A 1-ish points less than Hankerson...a couple more assists...35% from behind the arc. Definitely a step or two above Clarke...an overall "wash" as a Hankerson replacement? Gives us some versatility and depth. Wish it were more of a "splash" guy, but I'll take a 5th year baller like him.2 points

I have been slammed with work and life crap, so I haven't been able to post updates. Here is a tournament overview so far... - 3 teams in the Final Four are making their first ever FF appearance - First ever Elite 8 without a #1 seed - 1 P5 school in the Final Four (UCONN could be considered a P6 school from the Big East in basketball) - A 16 seed beat a 1 seed for only the 2nd time ever. This has easily been the best NCAA Tourney in a while. No blue bloods. College basketball is alive and well.2 points

I’m anxious to see if we’re able to schedule any Big East teams now that we’re a member in soccer.2 points

Keep an eye on what's happening at Buffalo. After the Zips took down the Bulls in the 2022 QF, many here called it "the game Groce Killed Buffalo." Then he blew them out in Whitesell's final game in the 2023 QF. They have now reportedly been turned down by every one of the top 3 candidates on their list of prospective head coaches. 6 Bulls are in the portal as of right now. It's been reported that Buffalo has no opportunities for NIL, either. Jerrod Calhoun of Youngstown State turned them down today. YSU is one of the hardest jobs in the Horizon League, and he would get a decent raise if he went to Buffalo. From a 6-seed in the tournament 4 years ago to scraping the bottom of the barrel to get a head coach.1 point

Not sure if they're nerds or just P5 junkies that are pissed only 1 P5 school is in the final four.1 point

Looking at Ford's twitter, he hasn't "announced" any offer from Akron and isn't followed on twitter by any of the Akron assistants. I could be wrong, but generally those are pretty good indicators of interest level. I'd be surprised if he came here. He's got his fair share of suitors, that's for sure.1 point

I believe Coach Rodriguez would have coached him at FIU. Hopefully we have the inside track there, though I think IOL is a bigger need than tackle at this point.1 point

College players play on these teams for development, without getting paid. Many of our players have played on these teams in the past and retain their eligibility. Will Portman, Renato Kauzleric, and Levi Stephens played for Akron City FC in summer 2022 and then played for the Zips in the Fall. Cam Victor and Jaden Wright also played with Akron City FC in Summer 2022 then went onto play at the schools to which they transferred.1 point

It happens on my PC also if I go directly to the homepage but if I go to any other page first, it works fine. It also works on my phone just fine. I'm guessing it would be an issue the website hosting company would need to fix and not anything someone in the athletic department could fix.1 point

I always wondered what PWO stood for. Now I believe it may stand for Pretty Worn Out.1 point

A good watch as always. They replay every angle of Greg's block in the semifinal game and it is absolutely glorious. If we had pulled that one out, it would go down as an unforgettable moment in the rivalry, and as one of the biggest moments of the tournament had Akron been able to win Saturday. That play was sweet, the Kent fans around me were shockingly complaining that it was goaltending, but it may be the cleanest block like that I've seen since June 2016, or so1 point

I have no idea on his academic status, but he's been in college four years. Could he be a potential grad transfer?1 point
