  2. For real. Give us some interviews at least. Still pictures of players whose jersey numbers you can't even see does nothing to drum up excitement and interest.

  4. I'd rather have the new head coach use this time to talk to the remaining players on the roster, work on recruiting HS,JUCO, and Transfer Portal, and getting his staff put together instead of having a press conference right away that can wait.

  5. I appreciate your reasoning, but I disagree. I would rather have a facility that gave you the flexibility for growth than one that, in its very size, makes a statement about how big you intend to build your program. The Stroth Center may be good for BG, but not us. I would love a facility that seated 8,000 with the architectural design for expansion if needed 20 years from now. A good architect could do that w/o creating deadspace in the building.

  6. The Zips have had a consistently competitive team for nearly 2 decades. A season GA ticket for this quality program is $60, That's $60. If high quality play at that price won't get butts in the seats I don't know what will.

  7. Utter joke. A D1 team in the city and the local paper and news couldn't care less. Then they all wonder why no one comes to games and such. In any event, is the Spring Game inside again this year?

  8. I actually feel a downtown arena would attract less fans, not more. It's already hard enough to get students to the games as is. Making them walk 20 minutes in the cold and snow would only further deter them. Not to mention attendance for pretty much all sports, at all levels is on the decline. Sure, we might get a temporary attendance boost when it's brand new, but that luster would soon wear off and we'll be looking at 2500 fans in a 7500 arena. I just don't subscribe to the philosophy of build it and they will come. Also, I think sometimes people overlook how scarcity generates demand, especially with this younger crowd that wants to gloat on social media. I think it would be great seeing students camp out for tickets to a big game or something like that. You see at some other schools that have smaller arenas with limited student seating. Or see people feel the need to have to renew their season tickets because they don't want to have to go back on a wait list. Those kind of things is what makes a program feel like it's big time.

  9. The caption should be "Scout team, here I come. LET'S GO!"

  10. Remember, the Transfer Portal is actually the Washout Portal. Over half of all players in it never play in college again. Most guys who transfer, and actually play another year, are mostly destined for another year of scout team, followed by another trip to the Transfer Portal which will end their career. College football is a game of routine mostly consisting of tedious practice, even more tedious exercise and worst of all meetings. There are very few days a player is actually playing in a game. Many guys are so accustomed to this routine they cannot see their lives without it. Moreover, they are under a lot of pressure to live the lives others want them to live. I would advise any Zip who doesn't want to play anymore, and only has walk-on offers, to evaluate whether or not they want to really attend college. If they do, stay at Akron, do whatever you have to do to pay tuition and graduate. Do something like the Army Reserves or ROTC because the physical fitness requirements can easily be achieved. It's a great school. There are tons of things to do other than play football. Reality can be difficult, but face it.

  11. You'll have to forgive him, his wife just gave birth to their first child. He is a little busy right now. There will be time to make his first public appearance soon enough. I'm sure he is taking care of the important issues impacting WBB.
