  1. I've heard from multiple people that Ben Finley is looking very good. My goal is to attend the Saturday morning practice. If it works out I'll take some notes and pictures.

  2. In the article it states that the median collective is paying $750k for P5 schools and that number is projected to double this coming year. There is certainly a lot of negative surrounding NIL, but the one positive is I don't think it will be long before you see a lot more players sticking around the full 4-5 years of college. 5 years from now it very well could be that unless you're a lottery pick, the pay is better to stay in college instead of being a late 1st to 2nd round pick.

  3. Yeah, those horrible transfers who helped win a MAC tournament.

  4. I agree. I hear they will be scrimmaging on Saturday. Hope it’s true.

  5. In no way am I comparing Enrique to Caitlin, but I'd love to see UA hang his number at the JAR in the next few years instead of waiting as long as they did with Romeo.

  6. Closed practices will help them get ready for the game day experience.

  7. Agree with this, it's frustrating. You'd think at the minimum they could partner with their radio and television school or campus television to let the students produce some content.

  8. Why? If the Zips care so little about their fans 2/3 through spring ball that they don't put out any information, why should I care? Closed practices? Who is going to spy on them? If you looked at your future schedule and saw a team with 5 wins in 5 years, would you even send your "water boy" to check out their spring practice? The best way to keep the Info seats empty in the fall is to keep the team a secret.

  9. Interesting article on here on the different portal approaches- https://247sports.com/article/the-cost-of-winning-inside-the-nil-approaches-of-the-basketball-teams-that-fared-best-and-worst-this-season-229902614/ It cuts off at some point for a pay wall, but interesting article up to that point.

  10. Agreed. I figured with Dawson transferring, we would at least have 1 announced commitment this week.

  12. JUCO WR Fidel Pitts. Probably means one of the junior/sophomore receivers is hitting the portal. Or maybe one of the JUCOs that signed earlier is not making it to campus.

  13. Since all we get are still pictures, anyone have any insight on who is looking good or the team in general for spring ball? I plan to be at the game as long as weather is good!

  14. As bad as the UA has been on UA sports, it has actually been substantially better in the last year with guys like Beaven, especially on the major sports. The news is generally 48 days late but the reporters have done better.

  15. To be fair, ABJ reporting on everything has gone downhill.

  16. I like that question, because I believe that the Akron Beacon Journal does not know this. Their reporting is so poor when it comes to Akron athletics. Think how good Women's Swimming and Diving is and Track and Field - plus other team sports on campus. UA is a D 1 school and they should shout it from the "Buchtel Summit’s glory."

  17. At the pre-season event Guthrie stopped by our group and said hello. We told him about the past post-season banquets and how well attended they were. He said had no idea such a thing was done before, and wrote himself a note to look into reactivating it. Maybe he lost the note.
