Sport- if you're not a freshman and you're not contributing to Zips teams that are winning 2 games a year, you are likely not a division 1 football player.4 points

Makes me appreciate the view from the InfoCision Space Station. Can we get a clock or is that too advanced for the school that doesn't have lights at their DI soccer stadium?3 points

Good quote from JoeMo from the above article. Realistic but also got me a little pumped up. Screw "the experience." Go kick a little ass & if you're gonna go down go down swinging 💯 "... People talk about, 'Oh, enjoy the experience.' This is not an eighth grade field trip to Cedar Point or Niagara Falls. This team is going to try to destroy us, but it is on the schedule, we are going to go play it and our kids are excited to prepare well and go up and compete as hard as we can and hopefully come out of it healthy."3 points

Terrible ref show. Hardin gets shoved to the ground in the box, he gets up plays for the ball and ref gives Hardin his second yellow2 points

Would you rather have Tahj, now with a full year in Joe's system, or a random Undecuffler-like journeyman? Neither is a great choice, but I think Tahj is about the best #2 we can expect in this day and age. Maybe he moves to the slot WR next season? If he had any aspirations of playing in the NFL, that's what he'd need to do.2 points

How does a D1 soccer team not have lights? And also, if they don't have lights why are they scheduling games at 5pm when the sun sets in 3 hours1 point

From the game notes: QB: Finley Bullock RB: Kellom Simmons WR: Norton Granger Walker WR: Rush Golden Norton WR: Polk Adams Wilson TE: Newell Cravaack Whisner LT: Shor Blanchard LG: Seymore George C Williams Morris RG: Davis Burrell RT: Thomas James DE: Adler Dall DT: Kapongo Moore DT: Lavea Murphy DE: Nunnally Cheatom LB: Fish Spriggs LB: McCoy Cooper NB: D. Lewis Thomas S: Greenwood Johnson S: Lewis David CB: Golden-Nelson Anderson CB: Hunter Jarmon K: Smith Wiley P: Book Castle KO: Jackson Wiley Not many surprises here except some of the backups. The only surprise starters to me are at LT (Shor) and WR (Polk). Looks like we’ll also have different kickers and punters…at least initially.1 point

I'm a homer. Zips 27 - 24. Luckily, the point spread was +50 when they opened and I placed a bet, and they wouldn't allow me to pick the Zips to win ... lol. I will not be going to the game, I will be getting drunk on my couch at home sitting in ice cold air conditioning.1 point

I went to the Guardian's game last Saturday. The smell of pot is everywhere. I was at Sam's Club earlier in the day. The meat department might as well have been a dispensary. I really didn't foresee when pot was legalized that it meant you're basically going to smell it 24/7 wherever you go. Especially downtown.1 point

The days of solid depth are over due to the transfer portal. There will be backs ups and many will play, but not the quality of the past.1 point

I used to get mocked more than I have recently for being a fan of Zips football. On Tuesday I got teased by friends and coworkers for the first time about this Saturday's game. But it's not a sign of Joe Akron respecting the Zips; it's a sign that the Zippers have just completely, absolutely, 100% fallen off Joe Akron's radar that they absolutely, positively, 100% don't care in the slightest. It's almost like Akron area Ohio State fans don't even realize they're playing Akron this week, as odd as that sounds. And even I am still not excited about this year. Usually at this time of year I'm jumping through my skin ready for some Zips football. But even today I'm not sure I'll watch the game tomorrow (of course I will). "Opportunity to compete." Lol. JoeMo should be furious that this schedule was put together. We're set up to fail. Again.1 point

If being a fundraiser for the athletic department is the objective, they're failing there as well. The debt financing on Infocision the last I saw alone was $4.5 million. If you add in all the other costs (scholarships, travel, staff pay, coach buyouts, equipment, etc.), at best they're operating at a slight deficit. That's assuming 100% of the TV money and other shared conference revenue is allocated to football since its the main driver.1 point

I used to get mad at this until I realized the University is getting out of the football program exactly what it wants. The football program is merely a fundraising organization for the athletic department and they don't care about winning. Once I realized this, it made discussing the program a lot easier.1 point

Yep, or worse... Sorry to any closeted OSU fans on here, but Ryan Day seems like just the kind of asshole to run up the score on a MAC opponent. If he hadn't fallen into coaching, he'd be ripping off your dad at the Buick dealership.1 point

I live in Columbus, but sorry, Zips, I just can't face this game. I'll open my eyes again in September. The only thing UA gets out of this is money. Everything else is a negative. Pray for an injury-free game.1 point

I'm skipping attending the game. Paying a couple hundred bucks to bake in 87 degree heat and watch osu fans dance to Hang on Sloopy 50 times as the Zips get smoked ain't my idea of a fun Saturday afternoon. I still think the Zips 2024 win total resides between 4-6. I think we'll have a decent season. But when the opponent's starting CB makes as much money as your schools entire football budget, it ain't a fair fight. OSU 58 - Akron 101 point

From WMU game preview: "Since 2017, the Broncos have held a 4-3-3 record against Akron. A win over the Zips Friday will capture the Brown and Gold's second consecutive victory over their foes from Akron, Ohio." Just crazy0 points
