  1. So far he seems be the hands-down favorite to take home the 2025 Maishe Dailey Award. Decent-looking 3-point shot that goes in about 18% of the time.

  2. OSU were runners up to Wake Forest in 2007. Your other points remain standing. Rarely is Hermann Trophy awarded to player on a team not advancing to round of 16. This year would have been a great case for the exception. The bizarre injury perpetrated upon Mitch Budler was enormously consequential. As if we needed more reasons to “hate” IU…

  3. Sharron Young has such high iq. Once the physical development catches up he’s going to be a monster.

  4. From the sounds of former interviews he already is spending the bulk of his time being the volunteer GM for the basketball program. Personally, I think his time and effort is better spent on his passion project over running an entire D1 athletic program, which he has little to no experience doing.

  5. It's the same as it's always been. Win three nights in a row in March

  6. I think you misspelled needing a war chest of ~$3 million annually for NIL. Players aren't going to care if us poor folks have to sit on wooden bleachers. They're going to care if their $250k NIL check clears. The amenities players care about about, like locker rooms and practice facilities, are new.

  7. Damn. Losing Harris hurts. We can still accomplish a lot, but I think our ceiling just dropped.

  8. A rare opportunity for a Central Ohio Akron alum and Zips fan. If I get the chance tomorrow, January 4, I plan to attend the Westerville North at Westerville Central basketball game and hence watch two Zips commits on the floor at the same time, and pretty close to my own back yard

  11. There was an interview over the summer with Bud. He said he was helping getting the football NIL setup. That would have been after the 2024 recruiting cycle. The question is what will be on hand for 2025.

  12. Yep, that’s right. I guess my point is you don’t have to be the tallest, fastest or jump out of the gym to be an effective rebounder. Wilson can be an immovable object and if he boxes out properly should be able to Hoover-up anything that falls his way.

  13. Really good interview with Wentz. His contributions to the Zips program are incredible. Being realistic, though, we won't compete with the major programs consistently until we build a new arena or significantly renovate the current one.

  14. I am interested in learning more about Harris. I imagine he will be undergoing surgery since they ruled him out for the season. Let’s hope for a full recovery. Now would that mean he has 2 years of eligibility left? And if so, how do we get him to stay for those years. The guy already has multiple degrees. Maybe he could get into an internship program with a local business for credit hours or something.

  15. What is 2019-20 without X1.0 - that stretch 4 that can play the entire court? We had a bruiser combo guard, a slick point guard, multiple guards that could shoot, and a decent but undersized front court. It's a very similar make-up to what the current team is. Hopefully there is enough on this team to overcome the loss of Harris. Massive blow.

  17. Their first ever Hermann Finalist from their first ever(?) College Cup team. They have a $20M payroll for football and apparently leftover money to buy the Hermann Trophy. Adedokun was 6th in the country in assists, 8th in points (21 less points than Emil), 19th in points per game (over a full point less than Emil), and 22nd in goals (12 fewer than Emil). Criminal.

  18. When do we see JG give more minutes to Young? Tavari has a place on this team but the offense has a much better flow when the ball is in Youngs hands.

  19. At this point, why not just redshirt Mahaffey? ... Unless he is a REAL difference-maker (20-min high-production) player.

  20. I've followed the Pacers a bit more this year for obvious reasons. They had a few guys who were questionable for the Miami game but ended up playing. My guess is they took Enrique on the trip as insurance in case one or more couldn't play.

  23. It's got to be tough for Bowling Green. To lead the entire game and to lose to a team that beats you damn near every time has got to be disheartening.

  28. I believe it, I don't think they'll change. And part of that is because, as you said, it may be the only way we can win with almost no size. The roster construction really limits how we can be successful.

  29. Groce isn’t going to change up the style. He will say “These guys shoot the lights out in practice, it just needs to fall in the games” that’s not a knock on groce, I do believe this team can shoot, it would be tough for this smaller team to play differently

  32. New interview with Bud Wentz talking about the new basketball training facility. This episode talks mostly about basketball. He does say the in the collective they have sub accounts for soccer and football along with basketball. Joe has been saying they have not had any NIL money and I wonder if there has been a delay…

  33. Love it! Thank you Wentz financial group! I’m curious how much NIL will take to get Bryce James here! probably too much lol

  34. The "system" has drained whatever interest I've had for NCAA football completely from me. I'm hanging on by a thread to NCAA DI basketball, men's and women's. Two threads for college soccer. @Blue & Gold is right, how do you do your job as a head coach - why do you want to do the job of a head coach - even at a MAC level school? I've always poo-pooed the comments made here regarding dropping football, dropping back to lower level football, etc. But maybe there's a point where you say, "why not?" Especially while we are in the "budget crisis" we've been in since God knows how long? Maybe there's a point where you just say "Enough!", tell the MAC see you later, and explore dropping down? It's not like it's going to hurt attendance at games, maybe season tickets and sponsors money, and seat holders that want to say they belong to a DI program. Maybe the Good Ol' Days of seeing your team in a FCS or DII, DIII Championship race would bring in at least the same number of fans and make it fun again. This post-season of NIL and Transfer portal news is simply insane and unsustainable. When it all collapses, and it will, where will the Zips stand? Just like @Blue & Gold, this is just my humble opinion....
