  1. I just went to @uakron twitter page and saw they started to follow Jerome Lane.
  2. I was one of Olojakpoke biggest critics early on, but over the past couple games he's developed into a serviceable option off the bench. He still has a long way to go, but he is no longer the one that I cringe at the most when I see they are heading to scorers table to check in. The distinction belongs to someone else who I'll keep anonymous.
  3. First off welcome aboard. I personally don't feel the Zips will be good this year, but some others around these parts are more optimistic. Regardless, that's not what is factoring into my decision to not purchase season tickets. Attending college football games is a huge time commitment as the typical game last somewhere between 3 1/2 to 4 hours and that doesn't include pregame tailgating. I'd gladly commit 5-7+ hours to tailgate and attend a Saturday Ohio or Kent game (I'm not as excited for Ark-Pine Bluff, Buffalo, or Ball State). The problem is those games are now on Tuesday at ~7PM at the end of November. Leaving straight from work to get there just in time for maybe a beer (if lucky) before kickoff then having to sit in the freezing cold on ice cold bleachers only to get home late with work the next morning is just a huge inconvenience and not all that exciting for me. I can just watch the game at home and avoid the hassle . I wouldn't try talking anyone out of going, more power to you. It's just not for me.
  4. Things that interest me more than talking about if a P5 school can or can't afford to buy-out a coaches contract.
  5. Yeah, I'll make sure to let the ticket rep know why I'm not purchasing season tickets this year when they reach out to me. I'll still go to a game or 2, but the games I want to see the most I won't be able to attend.
  6. I wish that was a trait this team possesed. You need to play hard for 40 minutes night in and night out. Feeling you can take minutes off during games is what leads to things like last night.
  7. What I don't get is how Kent got the game early last year therefore was able to attract a decent crowd, meanwhile, we get stiffed. They could have at least thrown us a bone and let us host Ohio in early October.
  8. This schedule is a huge disappointment IMO. They put our 2 best conference home draws as Tuesday November games when the weather will suck and people would rather watch from TV instead of dealing with the cold and freezing rain.
  9. What I figured. Schedules have been released. http://www.mac-sports.com/news/2017/2/28/FB_0228174937.aspx
  10. I'm not even the one that initially brought up the football reference, yet my stuff is what gets censored...
  11. Except for the fact 1 team won the MAC Championship and the other finished tied for 7th place in the MAC. Edit: I can't speak for the other critics, but I wouldn't have been hypocritical had we salvaged a 7-5 regular season and went on to get smoked in a bowl game.
  12. People were talking at-large bid possibilities with that team too.
  13. I think these are kind of the key points. So many times we have to choose size or athleticism and very rarely do we get guys with size and athleticism who can also ball. I'm not really sure we recruit that much better than our MAC peers as the guys we typically land aren't normally highly recruited. Dambrot just does a fantastic job of identifying undervalued players that fit his system and develops them into the players that he feels they can be. We probably can't land higher caliber recruits unless we experience more postseason success, meanwhile, at the same time we kind of need to recruit better to better our chances at postseason success.
  14. Under Dambrot we've been at or near the top of the MAC pretty much every year for the past decade. I'd love to see Akron make a Sweet 16 run just as much as any of you guys but to achieve that we'd need to bring our "A" game and hope our opponent brings something less than theirs. No matter who the coach is that is what we need. We haven't gotten that in our 3 trips to the tourney under Dambrot, but I certainly hope at some point we do with Dambrot leading us.
  15. I had Zips going 14-4, but had us losing 1 home game, not 2.
  16. I almost feel we let up when we build a comfortable lead. We see guys take a "heat check" 3, get a little lazy on defense, or make a careless pass. Next thing you know the other team is back in it. Where is that killer instinct? It almost seems we want to give the bare-minimal effort necessary for a win. I don't see that desire of always wanting more.
  17. It kind of depends on how the 1 bid conference tourneys play out. Teams like Belmont and Monmouth would be seeded ahead of us, but if they lose their conference the team that wins it likely won't. We should be cheering for upsets in Horizon, MEAC, OVC, etc.
  18. We sucked tonight. There I sung my grievance.
  19. I'd be more positive and say that this would be a lesson to help us stay more focused come Cleveland, but in a matter of 2 weeks we played ourselves from being a 12 seed to a 15 and that's if we are even lucky enough to make the tourney. Round 2 of us heading to Columbus for an NIT game is looking like a definite possibility if we don't turn things around fast.
  20. I think Utomi was injured. Someone said they saw him icing his knee on the bench.
  21. We peaked too early. Our offense has gone to crap meanwhile teams have discovered they can score off of us at will in the high pick and roll.
  22. Didn't know senior night meant the seniors losing the game for us. Kwan fouling himself out of the game and Big Dog missing critical free throws.
