Thanks for the primer GP1. I'm really looking forward to the good food and seeing the sights in Charleston. The team is staying at the Marriott Charleston as will all those taking the charter. I'm glad to know it has your blessings.

Please keep coach Peters in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers from surgery due to complications from his bout with cancer. Dan is an inspiration to all those who know him with his attitude and determination to not let this disease take away his dignity and spirit.

My source tells me the offense has been practicing a lot of 0 backfield blocking schemes. Read into that what ever you want.

I am hosting an exchange student from Germany this school year. When arrived at my home last week I found out that he is a huge basketball fan. He was very excited to tell me that his one of favorite players was from Akron. I said I agreed that Lebron is a great player. Then he said no, his favorite player is Dru Joyce! Dru plays for his hometown team in Germany EWE Baskets Oldenburg.

Alex Abreu to Play at UWG [Western Georgia]

LZip, I think I can give you some answers. KD is doesn't think there is much to gain from agreeing to play at Pitt or another team of their caliber without a return game of some kind. The odds of us winning at Pitt or on the road at any high major aren't great. If we are going to play them he would much rather it be on a neutral court or a least get a commitment to play a return game at the JAR or someplace like the Q. As far as your comments about your high school experiences, it is not a valid comparison. Your high school team didn't have to go out and recruit players. The Zips are not going to get any 4 star players but we do have a chance at 3 star players. Those kids are not interested in going to play for a loser or even a mediocre .500 team. They want to play for a winner and have a chance to go to the Big Dance. None of them realistically have a chance to play in the NBA so they are happy to look back 10 years later and know they were a winner. Playing a schedule that includes several un-winnable games does not accomplish anything IMHO. There are no such things as moral victories or learning experiences in that kind of scenario.

It looks like college D - coordinators are finally starting to catch up to the spread offense.Play tight man coverage on the relievers and blitz the qb. You only need to cover long enough to make the qb make a bad throw. The only way to beat this is having a running game. Until we figure out how to run it we will struggle.

Those teams don't want to play here because the odds of winning are slim. Go look at their OOC schedules. They look just like ours.

It's got to be embarrassing to be de-cleated and lose your helmet to a guy who is all of 5'8" and 145lbs.

I had a great time at the game. Got to hang out with my friends at the BB tent and fill up on their awesome food. There was a fantastic funk\blues band playing by the Stiles center. It was a beautiful night. I saw my team beat up on a team they were supposed to beat. Life is good.

These types of golf outings are not designed for the purist golfer. they are deigned so that fans of every skill level can participate and have a good time. The only Zips outing that is run differently is the one hosted by the golf teams. It's a 4 man 2 best ball format using player handicaps. I'm pretty sure it's a semi annual event that is held at Firestone country club. Last year it was played on the West course. If you are a purest, I would suggest you attend this outing next year. DrZ, when I see Anthony Henderson tonight I will let him know to expect your check in the mail for next seasons BB outing. Then you can take the day off and go play with your buddies.

Can the Zips Handle Greg McGhee?
Hilltopper replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
He might get a few jabs in early, but I would suspect our size and depth advantage to win out in the end. -
Just give Dan Fanelly at AF&C a call and they will custom make any jersey you want.

I heard they had changed their investment strategy and were now putting their money here. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=florida+swamp+land+for+sale

Saw him at the golf outing. He was having a blast. I think his team won the beers consumed per hole title.

Really? What more do I need to divulge from my "high horse" to make you happy. Everything I put in my post were direct answers to the questions you asked. I'm sorry you don't live in the area and can't attend the golf outing. I glad that you're a Zips fan, but it's not my job to spill my guts on everything I know about the program. Don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger!

I didn't say Tree couldn't work on other parts of his game. I said the biggest improvement for him would be to be more mentally tough when things aren't going the way he thinks they should. As far as Alex, it's been pointed out here and elsewhere that his days as a Zip are over. That is an old topic at this point so I'm not sure why you would even ask. The goals for the season are the same as always, to win the MAC and go to the NCAA tournament. This years slogan is "Drive for 5". I'm not sure if the ESPN deal had been released at the time of the golf outing. Keith said he was disappointed that the arena deal was off the ballot but there is no reason we can't be successful at the JAR. He pointed out that we have only lost 20 games in his tenure at the JAR and he thinks we have a great home court advantage . I would suggest that next year you should attend the golf outing and you can ask KD what ever you want. It's a fun event and most of those who attend are diehard fans who have a pretty good idea of whats going on in the program already. They are there for a fun day of golf and interaction with other fans.

It's up to him. The areas he needed to work on were mental than physical.

The players who have shown the most improvement during the off season are Evans, Gladden and Tree.

20 under was the winning score in the morning session. Two teams tied at 19 under. Lots of string needed to get those kind of scores.

Brian Walsh is going to join the coaching staff at the University of Dayton. Brian is a classy guy and will be missed. Good luck Brian!

Mediocre.

Brumbaugh's absence is clearly causing big problems on the O-line. I would wager that he is our best lineman. I don't know what his injury is, but we need him back soon.

First Merit has the cash, but they are way too conservative to spend that kind of money on arena sponsorship.
