Tommy Evans Lounge I saw that but what is the lounge used for Furniture repairs and light machine shop work.

It may be true. I can confirm Tressel was NOT at BW-3's an hour prior to tip-off.

Who will be on the search committee?
Captain Kangaroo replied to Hilltopper's topic in Akron Zips Football
When Lolla bolted for Louisville I saw Mike Waddell (interim AD at the time) walking around campus and said - "Man, this sucks. Lolla had it going on here. WTF?" Waddell replied - "Don't worry...we've got someone even BETTER lined up." I thought he was insane. But the new coach turned out to be Porter. Whomever was on that search committee needs to be contacted yesterday for advice on the football hire. -
If this guy is a National Writer, then RACER is an International Writer.

The Remora was hired to: 1.) Hire a winning football coach 2.) Fill InfoCision His stadium is empty, and his coach has lost 95% of his games after 2 seasons. In the UA Dean's office, that grades-out somewhere between Blutarsky and Daniel Day. Top-to-bottom, even though we just did it 2 1/2 years ago, we gotta change again.
-
Can you copy and paste the story please. It says the Zips are going to fire Ianello. It's because he was a terrible coach and lost over 90% of his games. If there are other stories posted on other sites, they will say the same.

Should the Zips wait to initiate the suspension when he's healthy? Bum deal. Makes the bus trip to WVa less-anticipated.
-
This is the second suspension in two years for the BB team. I can't remember the last suspension the football team has had and they have almost six times the number of players on scholarship as the BB team. Sure you want to go down this road? Panic and hyperbole. Never in short supply around here.

Do it.

If Calipari and Pitino can maintain college head coaching employment, why not Tressel?

Isn't this exactly why everyone believed TW hired his pre-school playmate 2 years ago? It wasn't drawn out and careful ... ? Why would we want a similar quick strike this time? Just my gut feeling -- I don't think UA would risk eating the money Ianello is due unless they really had an "impact" hire already in their back pocket. I'm not advocating a quick hire. I'd love to be doubly-triply-sure that we leave no stone unturned in finding the next coach. Because we simply can't screw up again. But if a former Ohio State coach is available...namely Tressel or Fickell...I think UA sees that as an impact, slam-dunk hire. Right or wrong, I believe if either of those guys wanted the job, the other interviews would be strictly ceremonial. Winters is the wild card. If he kept his ties to UA friendly and classy despite being rejected twice for the HC position, I could see UA giving him the job. I think alum Dambrot's success can really work in Winters' favor. UA wants a good coach, and stability...a winner for the next 10 years. It is a big risk hiring Winters...especially if there are guys with BCS HC experience available (allegedly/hypothetically). But if Winters is the real deal, it could be the perfect fit. So that's the long answer to your question. Don't expect anyone from Minnesota or Wisconsin to be hired.

Hearing from multiple sources - iCoach is gone. It will be interesting to see the coaching short-list, and how quickly UA acts on the new hire. My guess is - feelers have already been sent out, and someone is on-the-hook. Big Fish...former Ohio State Buckeye coach? Hometown Dambrot-esque hero - Paul Winters? I don't see this being a long, drawn-out process. UA gets my season tickets re-upped in 2012. I may even increase my Z-Fund donation? I hope so.
-
Then again, the OU guy may not know anything? We'll see who's right shortly.
-
I think that may be the reason for all this. It's time for both sides to move on. He's getting fired because him mom passed away? If you say so, it must be true. Man, that Wistercill is one cold dude.
-
Looking like the same-old-same-old to me.
-
What has he done that's so successful?! Mugged for the camera with championship teams that he had nothing to do with? The Remora.
-
id say yes for 1 year. if he mucks up the next hire, he better be on the way out the door too Are you serious? Is medical marijuana now legal in Ohio? Was there some Lot 9, 100 keg tailgate that no one told me about? HELL NO he gets no mulligan. If Wistercill is within 500 miles of the upcoming football coach search committe my projectile vomit will be sufficient to block the sun's rays for 1,000 years.

This site says it's a done deal. Believe what you want...but Christmas may have come early for Zips Football Fans!

I don't care enough to spend the gas money to Fairlawn. Let Ianello tell his plan to the fry cook. -
You really think we can score 13 points! We KNOW the Ole Miss-led offense is GUARANTEED to put up 3 points. I predict PN7 will get us 10 more in the 4th quarter.

Black Friday game? How appropriate. Football season ended for me a couple weeks ago. I can't even listen to the games on the radio. Unfortunately I can't avoid the embarrassing scroll running across the lower TV screen. Sucks that the nation will see "WMU 58 Akron 13" scrolling across their TV's both Friday AND Saturday.

We had our chance to pick that guy 2 years ago, and TW picked the guy who's turned out to be the worst coach in D-1A football. I see no way that any replacement of Ianello will be better than Ianello. I've said this before and I'll say it again -- Proenza isn't a Football Guy. He has no clue about football, other than knowledge that a good football team can enhance the college experience, and get alumni back on campus. But I would be shocked if he even knows the yardage required for a first down on 1st and 10 (Answer -- "10"). As far as selecting coaches...he entrusted that decision 100% to Wistercill. And, ignoring every other candidate in the nation, he picked his buddy from Wisconsin. And here we are. Down 30-3 to Buffalo at the half. Down 49-0 to Cincinnati at the half. Beaten 35-3, at home, by a K.e.n.t. team that began the season 1-6. We are the worst team in college football. And there's no hope for the future. We'll lose by 50 Saturday.
-
Regardless - It's a loss. On a neutral court. To a mid-major team that we'll likely be judged against at some point (Bracket Buster, NIT, etc.). Obviously [fending off dorky hyperbole Zips Fan here] it is game #3 of a long season, and can be overcome, but <see above>.

Tressel could donate the money required to buy out Ianello's contract. You can overlook the circumstances Fickell faced this year. I'd take him in a heartbeat.
