  1. Groce said the game was on Sunday due to graduation on Saturday. My comment regarding attendance could apply to any game. I really wonder how much Covid and the mask mandate will cut into this season’s attendance. There are a lot of familiar faces missing from the JAR so far. It’s always sparse in the non-conference season, but seems much more so this year. Giving the students the lower reserve seats helps fill what would otherwise be a pretty barren section. Hope attendance improves. This team will only get better as the year goes on.
  2. Predicted actual attendance- 586.
  3. PUH-thetic attendance tonight. Dawson and Tribble seem to be taking advantage of KJ’s abandoned minutes. Both are playing well. Spirited effort by Southern. Punched us in the nose early.
  4. The “Z” is cool and has style. Script Akron is lame, unimaginative…it has all the sex appeal of The Turnover Pencil.
  5. He needs to stick to Presidential stuff and stay out of marketing.
  6. Marshall 83 Duquesne 72
  7. I respectfully disagree with the esteemed Farmer Jones. If Joe focuses on QB and skill position transfers before bolstering the OL, DL and LB’s, we’re in trouble. Re-recruit Gibson. Make sure Mumpheld and Mathison are in the fold. Personally I’d be happy if Norrils stuck around. That’s where I’d focus my early skill position “recruiting.”
  8. I’d love to see a Reno back in Akron. Hope it happens.
  9. We’re getting a lot less offensively from Walton and X than anyone thought. I figured they’d be good for 20-25 per night combined? At least for last night, X took good care of the ball and hit some FT’s down the stretch. Do we remove the redshirt from a freshman? Or did last night show we have enough incumbent firepower to fill the Walton void?
  10. Todd Stroud is the former Zips coach with the health issue. He was a Bowden assistant.
  11. Pittsburg guy. Coached with Moorhead at UConn. Looking for a job. Makes sense.
  12. Only 2 wins were FBS (BG). Bryant was FCS. Even ouchier.
  13. Until prove otherwise, the osu game is our potential, and the Fordham and App State games are what we are.
  14. My guess regarding coaches - Maybe a Grad Assistant. That's about it. Incumbent Players? Whomever wants to stay, and buys into his program. 2022 Recruits - I'll guess a handful. Probably < 5 of those who remain committed would be offered by the new coach My guesses based on past "new regime" history...
  15. I assume there's a clause in Arth's contract that he loses his UA pay if he accepts a coaching gig elsewhere? Bowden took a grad student position and took UA's money. But Arth is young, and marketable as a position coach somewhere. UA will likely be on the hook for little, or none of Arth's salary if he ends up coaching elsewhere. At least that is my understanding.
  16. I doubt they'd leave positions with the Packers and Dolphins to be a Zips assistant. Maybe if they were fired and out-of-work, but that's it.
  17. Good 2017 SI Moorhead Article
  18. Completely disagree. @Hilltopper has thrown as many college TD passes as Marousek and Jankowski combined. In the transfer portal era there are scads of decent, disenchanted QB’s falling from the trees. If QB is a problem for the Zips next season, we have bigger issues than QB…we will have picked the wrong guy to turn around Akron’s football program. Just my opinion tho…😇
  19. Brookhart had to sell Frye on staying after Owens' firing, although transferring back then was a lot more daunting than it is today. I'll hold out hope that Gibson is open to at least listening to the new coach's sales pitch. If it is Moorhead, and he promises to bring in some Jr and Sr P5 OL transfers, ZG5 should strongly consider staying.
  20. Too bad. If Moorhead is hired, Zach would have had a lot of fun running that offense. If Irons chooses to bail too, I'm confident Joe would pluck a solid transfer to QB the Zips in 2022.
  21. Joe took over a Fordham program that was 1-10 in 2011. He wanted the Zips job in 2012, but UA chose Bowden. A home run hire on every level. Get it done, Guthrie. 🙏
  22. Waiting to see if this guy becomes available. I'd take 'em.🍊
  23. Delaware beat Fordham 81-71. ⚠️
  24. Bleach. My palate tastes like liver and lima beans with sour milk.
  25. In front of Infocision fans, the home Zips have won one Division 1-A game in the past 4+ years (beginning November 22nd, 2017). By comparison - The Cincinnati Bearcats just stretched their home field winning streak to 23 games. They've won 23 in a row...I can't imagine the Zips winning 23 home games combined during the balance of my lifetime. Next season the Zips don't play a home game against a D-1A opponent until at least October 1st. If they win on October 1st, it will break a streak where Zips fans have walked out of Infocision a loser all-but-once over 1774 days. If they lose, the count keeps climbing.
