It remains unclear whether the cuts will be accompanied by job losses; a university spokesperson told Inside Higher Ed, “Employee impacts were not assessed.” Baldwin Wallace University Facing a budget deficit, Ohio’s Baldwin Wallace University is cutting 23 staff positions, reorganizing 13 academic programs and maintaining a hiring freeze through December, Ideastream reported. “Like many universities across our country, both large and small, BW must always work to maintain a balanced budget. During the past two years we have operated with budget deficits, which we cannot continue to do,” university officials said in a statement earlier this month detailing plans to fix financial issues. “To address the operating deficit, we have looked at every area of the university over the past few months to ensure that we are operating as cost-effectively as possible. As a tuition-driven institution, it is imperative that we are operating efficiently so that every possible resource can be devoted directly to the student experience.” Majors targeted for elimination include French, German, religion and philosophy. Marietta College Marietta College in Ohio plans to shed 36 jobs over the next three years, cutting a mix of administrative and nontenured faculty positions, administrators announced in a forum earlier this month. The move comes after officials conducted an academic program review in the fall, which led to the college announcing it would drop 10 low-enrollment programs. Now it’s making personnel cuts. In all, 22 faculty positions and 14 administrative jobs are set for elimination. Additionally, officials plan to leave 13 currently vacant positions unfilled, according to a news release. Tenured faculty will not be affected by the changes, according to the announcement. Though Marietta’s enrollment has remained stable, administrators noted that tuition revenue has declined as the college has invested more in financial aid; operating expenses have also increased. “It is vitally important that we maintain an operational expense base that can be supported by our revenues,” President Margaret L. Drugovich told the campus community at the forum. “We must address these issues at Marietta now, so that the college’s future holds as much promise as our past. It is our turn to set the stage for the next chapter in the history of this great college.”

UA is demolishing the old Akron Baking/Wonder Bread building. It is also planning on demolishing other buildings and selling off ones that can be salvaged. The article specifically says UA is trying to sell Quaker Square (which is not unexpected). A preservationist is quoted in the article saying that preserving Quaker Square, the Central Hower Auditorium, and the Martin building are his priorities. -------------------- One can only assume UA will get all the blame from John Q. Public if QS is sold and gets torn down. If anyone should be responsible for its preservation it's the Quaker Oats Co. It would make a great company museum and gift shop.

I didn't watch the whole game but I saw where they were talking about KD retiring and showing Dru on the bench and talking him up. They also showed the team opening their boxes of sneakers from LeBron. Duq. got a lot of good exposure in the tourneys from the LBJ connection so they might just want to keep a good thing going.

For a lot of us, it was about the convenience and cost effectiveness of attending college in our home area, often while working on the side. For purposes of getting a starting job in an in-demand field like engineering/ IT, nursing, accounting, etc. it's as good as any of the others. If you want to work on Wall Street, get into an elite grad program, or climb to the top in business or government then the Harvard or OSU brands will help.

As well as Creighton shot in scoring 77 on us, there are a lot of other teams scoring in the 90s and even 100s.

I know what you're saying but I hate that their football and basketball programs are ahead of us right now. I also hate that I can't watch this game on CBS Paramount+ without upgrading to the premier plan grrr.

anyone know if the team and or coach and or AD came straight back home after the game? or to what extent they might have stayed to rub elbows?

sounds like the catalyst we need to make MAC basketball relevant again, looking forward to it. If I had a word of advice for them it would be to do the same for football.

I don't think it's out of the question that groce could still be sought for a job in a multi bid league. And we barely got the 1 MAC bid this year.
