  1. Wayt had field goals from 47 and 49 yards in Orrville's big win over Wooster Friday. With another year still to go, I imagine he will be getting a lot of offers.
  2. Inside the casino is fine... the problem is the loiterers/panhandlers outside on Public Square. That was Mary Jane you were smelling away from the casino.
  3. Maybe. It certainly wasn't anyone at the ABJ.
  4. sadly, I wouldn't put money on the Zips to cover, not that it's impossible. The over/under is 58.5 and I'll be tempted to take the over. I figure Tosu will get their 50 points at least (they'll want a fast start this season considering how their 2023 season ended)... the key will be for the Zips to get in the end zone at least once and make a field goal or two.
  5. Looks like only Georgetown did from the BE.
  6. I think we will be improved enough that we won't lose to all of OU, BG, WMU, EMU and NIU. Glad we don't play the RedBricks. Rockets at Infocision Nov. 26 for an ESPN Maction matchup with a chance for the Zips to go bowling.
  7. I'm just surprised the other ADs are confused about that.
  8. Because building a new indoor practice facility and 30K on-campus stadium indicates a lack of football financial priority..
  9. It's nice they extended that graciousness to Huggins; I hope he's finding a better path forward for himself.
  10. As the Dr Z article points out, it's Akron's fault, being a historically difficult place to win at 🙄
  11. Cashless transactions have become the industry standard and is designed to improve the pre-game and gameday experiences for all fans by reducing wait time in lines at a ticket window, concessions area, or merchandise store/stand. In addition to getting fans to their seat sooner, cashless transactions promotes the overall health, security, and public safety of fans. https://gozips.com/news/2024/7/5/football-akron-athletics-announces-cashless-transactions-at-all-athletic-events-for-the-2024-25-season
  12. What we need now is a co-branded Akron Zips/Amex credit card with 5x rewards points on all Zips-related purchases, 80,000 bonus points for spending $3,000 in the first six months and your choice of Zips logo designs on the card.
  13. I can't see California allowing their schools to engage in NIL caps. B10 decision-making has to go through Gov. Newsome and the CA legislature now.
  14. Really hoping these guys can get to the QB a few times at Tosu. And Rutgers. And USC.
  15. Thanks. Would you say we're in at least 2.5 ⭐ range with the current crop of OL?
  16. cleveland.com is paywalled but here is a link from Signal Cleveland that includes the detailed report from Ernst & Young. https://signalcleveland.org/faculty-program-cuts-among-consultants-recommendations-for-cleveland-state-to-combat-financial-woes/

  20. and even more creative : https://www.uakron.edu/cpl/credit-for-prior-learning?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid_social&utm_campaign=visionpoint_akron_pros&utm_content=collegeapp-facebook-newsfeed&utm_id=6616451677412&utm_term=6616451678012&fbclid=IwAR3vlH09FSGxxIqL7Vkx8oiTL8uTyRVJccYzPKUtRJzbzXuaGjgkYhkzUQk_aem_OTetOzErim_QqTrsrHdLBg I wonder how that figures into one's GPA?

  22. http://www.usa.com/rank/ohio-state--crime-index--city-rank.htm?hl=&hlst=&wist=&yr=&dis=&sb=DESC&plow=&phigh=&ps=#google_vignette Cincinnati and Columbus both have a higher crime index than Akron but don't seem to scare off parents. But those universities rank much higher than UA in the media guides. The next major investment campaign for UA must be in upgrading the faculty in order to draw in more students and research dollars. The Trustees are appointed by the governor for 9 year terms. Currently it's the DeWine & Kasich show. https://www.uakron.edu/bot/index.dot Principal Goal Statement In 2019, the Board adopted a Principal Goal Statement. The principal goal of The University of Akron Board of Trustees is to achieve sustainable financial stability within three to five years. To reach this goal, the Board is requesting the development of a strategic plan – led by the President and administration in conjunction with the full University community – which the Board will then consider and approve. The plan is expected to contain the following elements: Installing stable University leadership, including the president, executive vice president/chief academic officer and college deans Attracting, retaining and graduating students into productive careers Significantly increasing donations for student scholarships and endowed chairs Increasing the perception of UA as a university of distinction and choice Focusing research in areas of strength and opportunity Working closely with regional business, community and political leaders to strengthen our local economy Effectively managing expenses
  23. I guess it worked out for the Blue Jays 😒
  24. I'm actually glad to learn that UA has $80MM+ in rainy day reserve funds apart from its endowment.
