https://sports.yahoo.com/miami-dolphins-hiring-jason-taylor-223158898.html Hall of Famer Jason Taylor has been a lot of things for the Miami Dolphins: All-time sack leader, the team’s defensive anchor (with Zach Thomas) for more than a decade and for a time, the figurative face of the franchise. Now add something else to that list: full-time radio analyst.

If The Taxpayers Are Already Paying For It......
ZippyRulz replied to GP1's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
State support has come way down from what it used to be, so taxpayers have already received a large tax cut in that regard. But yeah, make some MAC tix available any way you can. Unfortunately, most will get thrown away. -
Are you talking about layers of administration or did you mean lawyers? ?

And so it begins ? https://www.cleveland.com/news/2020/08/cleveland-state-university-and-university-of-akron-to-explore-unified-law-school.html

Akron and Stanford mentioned in the same breath, yet again ? "https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/as-college-football-tries-to-play-through-a-pandemic-drastic-changes-await-in-the-sports-future/" "We're going to lose institutions," Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick predicted. "We're going to have a number of member institutions who won't be involved in college education in 3-4 years." ?

Very similar, but don't let them hear you say that..

Yes but not until spring, so you can continue to enjoy The Gambler for a while longer.

Kent State DOES have redeeming qualities
ZippyRulz replied to akronzips71's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
True story: I was recently doing a crossword puzzle, one of the clues was "Is unable". 4 letters, ending in N-T. I almost filled in K-E ? -
Well some of us might have gone to the Carolinas next month.... I guess there's always Myrtle Beach ?️
-
The silver lining for us may be that it gives us more time to get more player talent into the program before taking the field again, while at the same time some MAC opponents may lose some of their best players to transfer. Maybe not good for the MAC overall but gets us closer to parity quicker.
-
I'm sure in one of the myriad parallel universes it's not a factor ?

Pretty much all of the MAC-CUSA-SB schools are in the same situation with big student fee subsidies but as far as I know we are the only one with a task force pending and our severity of budget and faculty cuts. The bubble has been expanding for a while now and we may be the ones to burst it. Everyone is clinging to their conference status quo, waiting and watching for some type of reset. I think if a few schools start dropping out of G5 by choice or necessity it will trigger some changes at the conference level. P.S. - some or most of the FCS conferences (e.g. Ivy League) have auto bids to the hoops and soccer tourneys, no? P.P.S. - Even though we know it wouldn't save much if any money returning to FCS, I think it would placate the faculty union / senate ... right now they just want to see a downgrade occur.

no akron zips soccer in the fall
ZippyRulz replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
It is 6 months until February. I think there will be a new president and some type of vaccine by then. -
Maybe Joe Akron would support a non-university, semi-pro team in Akron(?)

How Many Games Will the Zips Play this Year?

It would be a blessing to get a tidy lump sum and not have to go there and take the beating. I'm sure we would accept a force majeure reduced settlement as we did with Nebraska and I'm sure Clemson is sure of it too.
