  1. Big game against UM tonight and I'm coming in from out of town to be there! UA is 3-3 all-time against UM with all wins coming for the home team. One of my best memories is circa 2004/2005 when Kirk Harwat was near midfield and beat an out of position keeper over the top. That was some great scouting by Lolla!I'm also looking forward to walking around campus and seeing the progress of the Info and the outdoor living room. After the fall season is over, is it true that construction will begin on a new / greatly upgraded soccer facility?
  2. ...but hilarious nonetheless.
  3. Now that would be fun, but I think the Wolverines have zero chance of being Bowl eligible this year (it will break a 33 year streak, longest in the country). They are 2-5, have Michigan State this weekend (who just dropped out of the rankings), then Purdue and three ranked teams (Minnesota, Northwestern and OSU). In other years that might have looked doable. I do not think so this year.So who would everyone else like to play? I also think a rematch against UC and another BCS victory would be a nice way to close out the season.
  4. Wiscy is a much better team than the bottom 10 of D-1A....and at least we've won our games against the other members of the list....and we still should have had the UC and BGSU games. We beat ourselves. You're right though, !
  5. WHAT?!!! You are crazy! Root for your team/school first and then concern your self with what the rest of the conference does. Seeing as we're 4-4 (2-2) now, we root for 4 wins to close out the season, a MACC win, and a bowl win...nothing less. The success of our own programs trumps overall conference progress. Can you imagine other fans doing what you propose if the roles were reversed (Akron - BSU)? I can't!If we win championships every year, the Big East will come calling and then, the status of the MAC is irrelevent. That should be (and likely is) an extended goal of the University and its Athletics Department. That being said, I'd love to play and beat the University of Michigan in the Motor City Bowl.
  6. When the Zips are on TV, I turn the volume off, and the radio broadcast on. Frenchie is the biggest homer ever and I love it! It always seems like the officials are members of the other school's alumni or fans and out to get UA. It's a nice outlet, especially when our team is having a meltdown in trying to close out a game. Thankfully, the soccer team doesn't have that problem.
  7. where bouts in Pittsburgh? We could have some common ground here.Indeed. I live in Shadyside and am a student at Carnegie Mellon. Private message me if you don't mind. It would be great to host a Zips watching event here in Pittsburgh.
  8. I would much rather see Southern Illinois added than CSU and having NIU dropped.SIU is a strong academic and research institution with a distinguished men's basketball squad. They already have a D-IAA football program, which is respectable. SIU fits much better into the profile and geographic profile of what the MAC needs.I'd also like to see Temple added is a full member for all sports and not just an affiliate member for football. I think that should have been a stipulation for their joining.
  9. Keep in mind the UC fans were saying the same thing and they didn't even end up beating us. We beat ourselves in that contest.
  10. I disagree that the TD to Bowser was a great play on Jac's part. It was under thrown IMO. Bowser's effort is what made that play special.I haven't seen a clip of the 3rd and 22.
  11. I agree. If this game were scheduled after opening day at the Info, I'd be okay with it. One money game per year might be necessary. Minnesota or Northwestern would be nice, but a game like this does help with recruiting. The chances that we will actually win a money game are slim, but with the improving program you never know. We play at least one money game every year and it's only a matter of time before we get lucky and win one.
  12. The UA men's team beat a solid NIU squad 4-0 on the road with Zakuani getting a hat trick. NIU had many votes in the most recent ranking. Great win...keep it rolling! http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...;ATCLID=1596557NIU is by far the second strongest team in the MAC.
  13. These are the circumstances I'd like to see student-athletes leaving...degree in hand with an eye on academic and career priorities. It's obvious football is a secondary interest.Best of luck to you Stephon!Kind of surprising EKU has a program that UA doesn't...I always thought UA was fairly comprehensive with the exception of medicine and pharmacy.
  14. Can't is great because you can read their message boards and get statements like:'Ike did failed out of school thats why he left Can't'which are not only grammatical and literary gems, but also reflect on the school's athletic AND academic programs so well.Thank you, KentDelt!RE: Can't State 2008-09 B-ballhttp://www.ncaabbs.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=474
  15. Fuller also had a INT go right through his hands and into the receiver's for a TD at OSU circa 2001. We lost the game 28-14 and that was a key play. Overall, he was a solid player though.
  16. There is enough hippie hay on their campus to get high on second-hand smoke.
  17. Other than a big UA win, I would like to see nothing more than a sea of our fans roll in to their stadium and make it look like OUR home game. A crowd chant to the same extent would top it all off!Any suggestions on something appropriate to chant if indeed this is the case?
  18. I think we need one for UA soccer as well. Is that possible?
  19. So long as Edelman is on the field, their offense will be formidable enough. Don't think they'll consistently stop our offense though.
  20. I was under the impression that Nike was contracted only for the basketball program(s) and that Adidas is the supplier for all other sports. Someone else please back me up or correct the statement.
  21. I think those are fair. I see us about even with CMU and UB. Temple is right there in the second tier as well. Toledo, Ohio, Can't, and EMU are must wins for a respectable season though.
  22. I thought we beat #25 Marshall in the Rubberbowl during Frye's tenure?
  23. Not when Can't loses to UL-Lafayette 44-27. I'm surprised no one has made a new topic regarding this. Can't is going to get pounded again next week by Ball State.
  24. I love reading stuff like this:UA leads the all-time series with the Vikings, 33-10-3.
