We can't stay in front of quick guards. Never have, never will. -

You win for now. The Zips open up at -3 at betonline.ag though I suspect the number will move by tomorrows tip. Now where do I send the socks ? -

I'd put my game worn Tree Treadwell funky socks on us being the dog. We shall soon find out. I actually hope that we are so that it may instill a fighting, nothing is given attitude in our guys. I'd like to see just a little more fire in our play. -

The Chipps will be in an ugly mood after the week they just had. We will be the underdog in this one and a supreme effort will be required to escape with a W. -
How about something really different ? Amputee night .... All Amputees admitted, not free, but half off.

Agree 100% with 'Topper. Had a lot of fun with this over the years.

Way, way overdue. The improvement is almost immeasurable when compared to the crap that we have endured for years. 71 should be a happy, happy man.

I have my doubts that this has ever happened before but each and every MAC team enters conference play off of a win. SCHOOL MAC OVERALL STREAK EAST DIVISION Akron 0-0 10-3 W3 Ohio 0-0 8-3 W1 Kent State 0-0 8-5 W1 Buffalo 0-0 7-6 W2 Miami 0-0 7-6 W2 Bowling Green 0-0 6-7 W2 WEST DIVISION Central Michigan 0-0 10-3 W2 Ball State 0-0 9-4 W5 Northern Illinois 0-0 8-5 W4 Eastern Michigan 0-0 8-5 W2 Toledo 0-0 7-6 W3 Western Michigan 0-0 4-8 W1

For the record, the Flashes do one thing extremely well. They crash the offensive glass. Have to keep a body on them which is often difficult due to the foul odor that they emit.

Who is your favorite "Marshall?"

Do not expect any shot violations. The Herd is in the top ten in possessions per game, and as would be expected at that pace, also near the bottom in scoring defense. Should be a fun one to watch.

As I recall The Hoosiers were the official home team for the game and the crowd was heavily in their favor. Thought it was played at an off campus arena but I may be mistaken.

Thought the Zips played pretty well, no complaints here. The double teams on Big Dog early were effective and that was a big factor. Have seen the Zags twice this season and they are outstanding. The word huge doesn't do justice to describe the size they can throw at you. They can really shoot it too. I saw one of their 7 footers knock down a catch and shoot 3 pointer with zero hesitation. Unreal.

This will be a decent test. Mercer's defensive numbers are very, very good so I expect a grind it out type of contest. This is the kind of game that we will need to play when we get into the conference schedule. I'm confident that we will be victorious but by no means do I expect a cakewalk.

Game 4: Zips -v- Georgia Southern
The Hip Zip replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Thought that Ga Southern was a decent opponent. Considering that this was their 2nd game in three nights on the road I thought that they were very well prepped for the game. While BJ, no doubt, had a hand in this, it is my belief that the Eagles are a well coached team that would compete well if in the MAC. -
Creighton looked awesome last night in their destruction of NC State, hanging 112 on the Pack. They appear to be faster, deeper and much more talented than the teams that Doug McDermott, now with the Chicago Bulls, recently led for his dad. A win over the Jays would be huge.

Field looks awful, like they are playing in a parking lot with a little grass growing in the cracks. Ha, posted the same thought at the same time as Spin

Game 3: Zips -v- Radford - 11/20
The Hip Zip replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
The shortcomings of the ABJ's seem very minor when compared to the Zip's epic failures to produce a watchable video feed. No play by play, no scoreboard, etc, etc. It's at a level that is actually laughable. I love the game and the players but it seems that my interest is beginning to wane. The unfortunate part of all of this is that the Athletic Department seems not to care. -
Game 1: Zips @ Youngstown State - 11/12

What is defense? Very slow feet closing out on shooters. No panic here but D has to improve a lot by the time we get to the Q. -

Hard for me to believe that the Pengs have kept Jerry Slocum around this long. Thought they would let him go last year as YSU has been mediocre at best for several seasons now. -
Watched the Eastern / Pitt game and came away extremely impressed with Eastern. A couple of times they looked like they may be headed for a DD loss but they stay composed and battled until the end of 2 OTs with less than their starting 5 on the floor as you mentioned. Everybody is back and have length and depth. Thompson has potential NBA talent and will only get better if his attitude allows for it. They will be a very tough out for anybody in our conference.

I can only hope that Grand Rapids has their own fan forum. Good luck Pat -

Wonder when, or if at all, we may get a report from the "secret" Michigan scrimmage ?? -

After the debacle in Canada last night I am now officially ready for hoops. I am excited by the solid character of this team and especially the headiness of our guards. Expecting a big, big, big season.
