I agree with BZG here. EZ had the ball behind him and was reaching back to get it. What contact there was, I don't think it was clear to give a PK (but I'll take it).

They had a stream on their website for the soccer game so maybe it will be something similar.

Looks like JB's snapcount decreased to 50% this game.  I hope that isn't a sign of things to come.

Mighty MAC power Western Michigan lost its first game at Portland 4-1. They play Michigan State at Home Wednesday and we will see if their play to begin the year was a fluke or not. http://wmubroncos.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc

The 2 losses we also dominated the games but just couldn't find the back of the net and mistakes led to one goal for the opposing team both times. One was a quick short pass from one of the CB's to Ben who didn't have enough time to get a good leg on it and the ball went out for a corner which the team then scored on and I don't recall how the other goal happened but it was a mistake on our part. I am excited for the rest of the year. Anybody have an update on Sam? Looked like a hammy or groin and I hope that doesn't linger the rest of the year.

Funny I got on the MSU site and you would think they would refer themselves as the #1 team but they say #6. I think we are playing up the #1 to try to get as big a crowd as possible. I am bringing 2 MSU grads with me on Wednesday so hopefully the Zips come out on top!

With Coleman's alleged broken hand for the Browns they don't have any other WR's on the practice squad as they called up Higgins for the Ravens game. I wonder if there's any chance they will look at Jojo or if they will go to another teams practice squad for a WR?

I like Sampson rushing the passer and feel he can make a huge impact off the edge. However, I wonder with the graduations at WR this year if he could pull a "Jerome Lane" and move from DL to WR his sophomore year?

Thought student attendance was better than normal. Looked to have 2 sections right next to the band completely full plus the others scattered throughout the stadium.

Joao is quickly becoming my favorite Zip. Reminds me of Victor as he brings some attitude to this team. Watched a little of the ESPN broadcast this morning and heard Jared say he was brought in as a left back for after Niko graduates. That explains his runs he likes to make out of the center back position!

I like that we have fewer "cupcakes" this year compared to last and replaced them with quality mid majors. Last year we had: Adrian - terrible D3 team replaced with a slightly better D2 team in Concord YSU - same as CSU as it is required as part of coaches vs cancer American - 8-22 last in their conference Air Force - 12-21 last in their conference Coppin St - 8-24 tied for 7-9 in conference Radford - 14-18 6th in conference Mercer - 15-17 6th in their conference MD Easten Shore - 14-20 6th in their conference I do agree that part of these were the "tourneys" we were in but I think those "tourneys" were chosen because we had Gonzaga and Creighton on the schedule. My preferred schedule when Groce gets the team where he wants them is to play 2 top 25 programs, play in a tourney with an opportunity to play another 1-2 good teams (potentially top 25), play 3-4 "cupcakes" including your D2/D3 tuneup, fill the rest with quality midmajors even if it's home and homes where we have 2-3 less home games than what we are used too.

Quick thoughts on the game (only stayed through the first 10-15 minutes of the first half) Impressed by the new Central defender Joao although we were tested much on defense ( maybe that's why Reggie started at defensive midfielder in the second half since they like Joao) Manuel seemed to be very good with the ball and made many attacking runs David Egbo started up top but I felt struggled a little bit in his first college game action (EZ played there in the second half when they did wholesale substitutions) Gainford looked good and scored the only good Stu didn't play ( I think maybe an ankle again); I also didn't think I saw Skye or Zajac

Myself and a coworker will be part of the dozens. Planning to take a late lunch. May only catch the first half but something is better than nothing.

I will be checking today when I get home! Loved the Zips Junior reporter interview with Pau and Morgan. Pau is pretty entertaining
