  1. Now your just trying to make me mad. Cope is the only football announcer to be inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame and the recipient of the Pete Rozelle Award for "long-time exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football. Cigarettes took Copes life. Cope gave the rights to The Terrible Towel (one of the greatest marketing ideas in NFL history) to the Allegheny Valley School in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. The school provides care for more than 900 people with mental retardation and physical disabilities, including Cope's autistic son. Proceeds from the Terrible Towel have helped raise $3 million for the school. He was like Herb Score, you turned your tv off and listened to the radio because you wanted to hear what he had to say. He was a little more than "drunk out of his mind."
  2. Stringing together a series of cogent sentences is critical in broadcasting...... Myron Cope did it for years, and could hardly get one sentence out let alone a series. Sometimes color guys can just be entertaining like Bernie. GF is not the worst idea I have heard. I would be anxious to hear his first game. Although, it could also turn out like Davey Nelson
  3. Pat Kerwin would be my number one pick, but not realistic. Realistically I would like to see an ex NFL linebacker that shows interest in the field. Linebackers seem to know the game very well (like ex catchers in baseball) and are good communicators. I know this is a generalization, but when I think of broadcasters I like, that's what I come up with. Ex player would be my third pick. Somebody familiar with the program that has some broadcast experience. Bernie Kosar is not realistic either, but I love listening to him. I think GP1 might be entertaining though. Matt Cherry might be on my list too but I think he has a successful career already.
  4. Sure sounds like a lot of big ZN tailgaters are moving out of that lot. I wonder how many actual grills, tables, tvs and corn hole games will be set up in lot 9 this year. My guess is that it is going to turn into a boring parking lot with not much tailgating. I could be wrong, but I am going to stop by there and make sure to take some photos this year. I'm really looking forward to moving to a new lot this year and making a bunch of phone calls and emails to recoordinate gathering everybody in a new lot. Sure hope it changes again next year, really keeps things exciting.
  5. I'm disappointed to hear that, I thought Frank did a great job. Nice guy also, I remember speaking to him at the football golf outing his first year on the job. He was very concerned what Zips fans thought. He was asking our group a lot of questions and listening to the answers. I could tell right away he was concerned about his job and wanted to learn as much as possible about the team. I'm guessing he is moving up in his career. I couldn't find anything with a one minute google search. Good luck to him!
  6. Then waived according to Adam Caplan. Tough business.
  7. See the link under football, start here. It takes you to ticketmaster's site, so maybe that is why it can't be directly linked.

  21. I agree. It looks as though the firm is speaking for the masses, and those aren't my thoughts at all, but that's how it will be interpreted. Advertising sure can be powerful.
