They had open tryouts before the season to fill up their roster. Unbelievable what they are accomplishing considering this was their 2nd year eligible for the tourney and all the players on the team are older then the college itself.

CBS said that Akron was originally set to play Kansas St but they swaped the Zips out for a play in game of Boise/La Salle so that Akron could be closer to home. As much as I appreciate them moving the game from Kansas City to Aurburn Hills, I would have taken the better matchup over location.

I like the idea of a few set plays to get Pat the ball in the corner, particularly on in bounds plays. Shake knows our team like it was his own. It wouldn't hurt to throw just a few new things in there. We in bound from the base line to our big standing there who hands it off to the in bounder to shoot a 3 all the time, lets switch it and the Pat is the in bounder and shooter. Its simple and doesn't really take much practice.

I rewatched it today. They said they thought the entire Zips team shopped at the thrift store clearance section. He also said he thinks Tree dressed in the dark. lol

I think it is spot on. OU has beaten everyone in the MAC except Akron. Can't is hot right now, but OU has a better track record.

The quarterfinals got flip flopped. Buffalo is on Akron's side of the bracket and EMU is on Ohio's. I feel that Akron has the much tougher bracket then OU since we have Buffalo and Can't. OU only has Western on their side.

I wasn't expecting them to cut down the nets last night. When Akron clintched last year KD did not allow them to cut down the nets, trying to make them more hungry for the Q.

Does anyone know what OU's RPI was at the end of last year? I think now that we are able to establish we are a top 50 RPI, I feel that should help a little bit since most teams are scheduling based on expected RPI.

Not much. Before the game Penn State was ranked 201 on live-rpi.com. The win moved them up to 184, which is not an impressive win.

A quick look on their board and they are still actively using the Akron game thread from several weeks ago. They also have started a new Akron thread for the game that is 3 games away for them. I think they really have a thing for us. It's ok bobkitties to confess your love for the Zips.
