I checked their 'message board' to see if any of their comments became more educated, but they continue to call Akron a physical team and plan to 'pass us to death.' I think they will be in for a rude awakening. I'm pumped for this game... ...Here's some of the highlights from the SMU board after a mention of rain for tonight's game: "A slick fast pitch. Break out the long cleats and run Akron into the ground. Derschang, Barnes and company have got to move the ball on the deck. Pass, pass and pass some more until Akron breaks. The shooting gallery must be open. need to take at least 15-20 shots and put 10 on frame. That's how you beat a physical team. If they want to grind then don't let them have the ball." HAHAHAHAHA  So, SMU apparently has no scouts for their program. Porter's teams cannot be charaterized as physical, this year's least of all. How many going to the Barley House? If I drive all the way to Akron to see a mere four of you there, I will be pissed If there's not many of them there, Just show up to the student union...I'll make sure you get in

Who signs their checks? 2K Sports Classic Tournament organziers since this is still a part of that....HELLO!!!!!! Still sticking by Zach's theory...
-
Apparently our Mississippi State win was a "fluke"...just the way the 2K Sports Coaches v Cancer Classic tournament organziers want it felt as...mission accomplished...
-
yeah, you're all right...Dambrot can't coach in clutch ...talent must of been the reason we've been in 5 consecutive MAC championship games...Must be the only reason we have hype going into this season too...Because I'm sure ALL OF US can coach better than Dambrot ...seesh... Coaches can only do so much...Players have to execute...Quincy pulled a LeBron, no one was boxing out, and on and on...and plus the referees bias tonight, to only lose by 3? To a Valpo team that should of won against Arizona...
-
I'm sorry, but the refs controlled this game. At a crucial point, Dambrot tried calling a timeout...ref was standing right beside him...instead, the ref called a jump ball, even though Abreu had clear possession when Dambrot called timeout...
-
not if it's these referees again...and if it's not, and the fouls-free throw margin is the same, ZachtheZip's theory has to be taken into consideration...makes sense... Pre-planned to have 4 schools in there...those schools probably paid them a lot to get a spot...and one of them gets embarassed at home...they win it all at the Garden, and if we would of won out, we would of been the only team without a loss in this tournament...get what I'm saying?
-
ZachtheZip told me that he feels that the Tournament Organziers are punishing us for beating the "champs" of their tournament even though we beat them...
-
I heard the same..someone told me it hit Will Trapp's back...and that was the reason for the pk...

SMU Message Board Thread for Akron game(sort of)
-
You have to remember it's still early in the season...They can still light it up from 3...Since they haven't yet, that makes it even more scary for tonight...
-
+1000. Totally agree. Valpo has 3 point shooters at basically every position...should be interesting to see tonight...
-
that was my fault...i would do the search (ctrl + F) on the ESPN scores site for "ALL" and forgot that they abbreviate the directional Michigans. I was typing in "Eastern Michigan" and nothing showed up...but that's because they keep it as "E Michigan"... Keeping tabs on the Zips non-conference opponents
mes102 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I agree...but at the same point, you want to stay grounded...there's a difference between being confident that you're going to win, and being too confident to a point that you don't think you need to play hard in order to win... -
First 125 students get in for free...after that, it's $4.00 with your zip card... I plan on being there for the second half of the Detroit-Drexel game, and for whole women's basketball game. Just wish I could have an outlet to hook my laptop up so I can get wireless (hopefully...lately won't let me...) so we can keep up on men's team tonight as well...
-
If anyone wants our Title, COME AND GET IT!
-
Students have been going person to person asking what they're doing tonight...we're trying to make up for lack of marketing focused on students...so we're doing the best we can...hopefully we get 1500 tonight...

A friend of mine posted this on saturday...it was his birthday too...wonder if this is how he felt ---> Anyways, this was his facebook status after the 3rd quarter...I left his name out and put "_____ ______" instead...It's to the Browns reaction video... "Hey Zips. _____ _____, former football fan. Killer game in Infocision today. Do you understand that it is statistically harder for a team to be this consistently bad than it is for them to occasionally accidentally be good. The probability is staggering. Did you happen to see that Toledo-Western Michigan game Tuesday? Its like they are playing a different sport than you! And here's what you have to understand we don't expect you to be good, we just want you to be watchable! Do you have any idea how low our expectations are? We don't expect you to win the MAC, we just want you to look better than a Division VI High School Football team. And Listen I know there are way more important things in life than football, but you are supposed to be our pleasant distraction from those things. But all you do is waste or Saturday and put us in a bad mood every week. You are a FACTORY OF SADNESS! I won't see you Saturday!"
