No, I think this guy is coming in to try and earn a starting position at Akron. I highly doubt if Coach Bowden ever gives anyone any assurances beyond a fair shot to prove themselves.
Nick is probably confident he can rise to the top of the depth chart and throw for a lot of yards here at Akron, ala DW13.
I wish all the best to Nick and hope he can reach his full potential here. However, I think it will be hard for him to come in and have the kind of success Dalton had last year. Perhaps the Zips will catch lightning in a bottle again with a transfer QB, but the odds definitely have to be long on that.
The number one thing I hope to see from Nick is the total team-player/leader/Zip4Life persona that Dalton showed us last year.
The best man will start. I think we can all agree that Coach Bowden & Co. want to put the Zips in the best position possible to win some games this year. I certainly want the best players on the field for the Zips, but I gotta tell ya, I am rooting hard for Kyle Pohl.
