  1. I'd rather not have complacent coaches on staff.
  2. If so, I'd rather have more aspirational assistants on staff.
  3. lol its convenient you left out that two teams from the B1G made up half of the final 4. Maybe if the MAC champion didn't lose/get blown out most years the committee would give them a better look. Doing something in the OOC besides losing against average power 5 teams at best (let me know where Penn St finished this year) would help as well. If you're good enough, earn it, then prove it. Nobody should get handouts. People were crying about UCLA getting in over the likes of ODU and others this year. UCLA made the sweet 16.
  4. May have is a possibility that I won't argue against. What we do know is that with a bad defense and a supposed great QB/offense, we failed to win even ONE game against FBS competition. I also know that you don't necessarily need a great D to win/compete in the MAC. The conference is notorious for high scoring games with little defense. Hence the term "MACtion". In 2012, NIU ranked 75th in the nation in total D. Akron ranked 88th. NIU lost one game in the regular season and went to an Orange Bowl. Meanwhile, Akron won one game. Dalton did a nice job in his year here. He also had the benefit of having 4 years of familiarity of a system while the conference had to learn on the go vs the offense. I think he's a little overvalued on here.
  5. Summary: Turned it on just after the comments about QB unfortunately. Thinks we can have a very good starting 5 on the OL, but lack depth. will be looking for transfers over summer. Special shout outs: Lavaughn Guatney (sp?) on o-line. Not sure if that has been mentioned on here. Austin Wolfe.Mentioned Marcus, Coe, and Monroe as being game changers. Seemed highest on Marcus. Talked about schedule. Made a point about us always playing our P5 OOC opponents tough. Which we do. Talked about NEO being the base area. Said local interest is ramping up (see the 300 JR recruits on campus last weekend). Also mentioned south Fla Spring game: game scenario. 1s vs 1s. 2s vs 2s. Juiciest part: Have been talk to 3 or 4 transfers that we don't know about. Expects 2 or 3 of those to join after spring. ADDITIONALLY looking to add another 2 or 3 more transfers on top of that.
  6. Bowden on 1350 now
  7. I would guess he also not only broke, but shattered the pass attempts record. That has a lot to do with it. He wasn't a bum, but if he was above average, we wouldn't have went 0-fer against FBS competition, especially in the MAC.
  8. Simple offenses aren't that uncommon in college. That's one reason many struggle adjusting to the NFL. Also, DW was far from a "stud".
  9. Yes.
  10. I thought its been established on here before that we are moving to an Auburn like offense? FWIW- I like EA. Whether you agree with him or not on a lot things (I remember people took issue with his hype of Mizell last season), his opinion seems pretty polarizing on here.. Not cliche, boring fluff while trying to be funny like GT. Regarding running backs, I am a huge fan of Hundley in short yardage situations. I like what Lawrence does when he gets the ball as well. He is a strong runner for his size and gets down the field. Its too bad he can't hold onto the ball/stay healthy. I hope Alexander prevails as the every down back. Looking forward to reading all of your recap's Saturday.
  11. Not really going out on a limb here, but I'd bet Bobby Hurley will have more tourney wins in his career than all current MAC coaches combined. He can coach.
  12. Just your typical GT HOT TAKE
  13. 12 pages of repeating the same thing over and over. Is it time for the Spring game yet?
  14. Speaking of semi-pro football, whatever happened to Quentin Hines' league?
  15. I'm surprised the city didn't give them an abatement...
  16. this is about all I can really find on him that tells us anything. Nice list of strengths/weaknesses, and this guy had him pegged as a low-major. Can't find anything about offers. https://future150.com/hs/basketball-profiles/daniel-utomi-sf-2015 edit: check that. the verbal commits link has his only other offer from prairie view a&m
  17. Was he a HS teammate of Antino?
  18. good for him. Wish Buffalo could have kept him longer.
  19. I'll be out of town as well. Anyone know anything about whether any recordings will be available?
  20. congrats. VA really killed me.
  21. I'll give credit to GT for a somewhat lengthy article. Few things I found interesting: No mention of Donnell Alexander. Pohl still the starter, and the offense supposedly isn't going over an overhaul.
  22. Bolded part is a fair statement. As for the first part, I care, and so should everyone else. Everyone should value quality discussion. I shouldn't be able to say "our football program is better than NIU" and have it blindly passed off as fact just because this is an Akron board. It really has nothing to do with OSU, thats just the most common example. Should mistakes in my debate with Dave about Depaul not being an attractive program be ignored just because this is an Akron board and not a Depaul board? BUt how dare I correct anything that is wrong about OSU right? I'm clearly some OSU honk who graduated from UA, donates to UA, attends as many UA athletic events as I can and spends all of my time on Akron board just for shits and giggles.
  23. You're the one who chose to push your weird agenda against OSU and their recent history in a thread that has nothing to do with either of them. You said they have been a double digit seed the past few seasons- false. You said the program is in a downward spiral, when there is no evidence to suggest it, besides lower seeding which really means nothing (just ask Mich St.) To keep this thread on topic, I'll worry about Coach D leaving when there is something more than a few random twitter accounts throwing them on their list of 10 candidates.
  24. positive light or negative light has nothing to do with it. I couldn't care less about that honestly. Its the fact that basically anything he posts regarding OSU is blatantly false.
  25. OSU was a 6 seed in 2014 and was ranked nearly all season this year. Had the 11 ranked recruiting class in 2014 and currently have the 6th ranked recruiting class in 2015. Not sure of this downward spiral you speak of.
