Are we really gonna have this conversation again?? the attendance for the game is paid attendance. Translation = tickets sold. That means Summa may get 1000 tickets per game as part of the sponsorship. Infocision as well. Add up all sponsors and their "complimentary" tickets as part of their program and you can "adjust" the final number. Pleasr stop with the "yeah but there weren't that many butts in seats" comments. They don't have to actually be there to be counted. Thank you for your attention. Please move along.

Campus Insiders MAC Football Team That Will Disappoint Akron - It was a phenomenal stunner of a 2015 under Terry Bowden going 8-5 with five straight wins to close out finishing with a bowl victory. But that was with a veteran team and a loaded defense, and now it’s rebuilding time. Bowden has come up with a nice base of players to start with, and there’s hope for the systems on both sides to be good enough try to recreate the magic. It’s not going to happen. The schedule is harder, the team has to replace too many key parts, and it’ll take a minor miracle to get to six wins.

Measure is tickets sold or actual home attendance. Zips have consistantly used tickets sold. The massive alumni give-away would only count if some one (alumni association or a sponsor) bought the tickets at at least 50% of face value. I recall corporate sponsors buying blocks of tickets back in the 80's when we moved up. We have never averaged 17k actual butts in seats. If I recall, back then, you could go with 17k home paid or 25k home and away. Which meant one game at Ohio State and you were good for 2 years.

My wife and two kids. Rushed out to the game. In the cold and rain. We were there over an hour early. No hats. All gone. Very bush league. Season ticket holder. Disappointed again. Way to go UA. Saw more hats on cheerleaders and on the field than in the stands. Pathetic operation.

Carmen is asking why the University is suddenly in such a big $$ deficit. Discussion is why reduce the Football after you just sunk $65 million into the stadium. Discussion is about sports being the marquee of any university. That Bowden seems to be making progress and this rumor may undermine him and he might leave if this is true. They are about to bring on the interviews. somebody should contact Nathan and have him call them asap.

When the "faculty" goes to games and supports the program, then I will listen to their recommendations. I doubt any of these idiots have ever been inside Info for a Zips Football game ever.

Just heard it on a promo..

OK gotta put my two cents in. Akron has always been 2nd best, settled for. Not one student ever dreams of growing up and going to Akron. Most survey the landscape and decide Akron is acceptable-- mainly for economical reasons. That's what I did in 1984.Nobody cared then either. My wife and I sat at an empty Rubber Bowl every Fall Saturday and watched the Zips play EKU or Salem College or Northern Arizona, Morehead State etc, etc. Ocassionally Toledo, EMU, CMU and always Can't and YSU. We sucked or at best were .500. We played no one of interest in a decrepit stadium. We were irrelevant. Now, we have a great facility and we play Howard, Morgan State, VMI etc and MAC. We are just starting to win in the MAC against awful teams. But we are still irrelevant. Had we beat Michigan last year and Pitt/Penn State this year.. we would be fighting for seats -- because we would be relevant. NIU had a dream season a few yrs ago.. even knocked off Alabama. That's the kind of splash we need to make, I love my school and the Zips and come out to every game I can. But Joe Akron will only support us when we become consistently relevent. Not because the weather is nice,,, ps. I am pretty sure that most MAC schools reach attendance requirements with Tickets Sold. Not butts in seats anyway. So we are arguing over nothing,
