C'mon. Did yo really expect more than that this year? Bowden made it very clear from the outset that this was going to be a very bad year.
-
NOthing here as well.
-
@STZ-what were you expecting? TB gave us the heads up way back that this was not going to be a very good team this year. And, he was right. Those that were thinking that things were going to turn around instantly were totally misguided. I feel your pain. As a life long Zips fans, this stings! But in all the years that we have been D-1, I think TB is going to give us the best chance to win. For me, when the season started, I was looking for only 1 thing, IMPROVEMENT. We did improve. The attitude of the players was much better. They nevcer gave up. The coaching staff has fighting since day one and will continue to find ways for us to improve and become a better team. Icoach left us directly behind the 8 ball with no place no go, which sucks for the kids on this team. Without even looking at who we are recruiting, I can guarantee you that we will again be improved next year and we will win more games.

An almost perfect first half for the Zips. Up 10 and we get the ball to start the 2nd half. Defense needs to stay strong.

What next? Patience. Those of you that thought this was going to be simple and easy have been smokin' tooo much wacky tobacky! If you had listened to TB way back as early as last spring, he was giving a us an indication that this season was going to be tough on the Zips. He saw what we have and didn't have and went out and recruited what he could he short notice. The lack of good players and depth has taken the toll as we were paper thin as far as talent is concerned. After having season tickets for 25 yrs., we did not renew our tickets for last year. The wife and I saw the writing on the wall. However, after hiring TB and the staff he has assembled, we renewed our tickets. Believe me, if his assistnat coaches didn;t think they could get the job done, they would have hired toon somewhere else. We all need to be patent and se and hope for the future. I have a lot of confidence that things will get better. Go Zips!!!!!

We knew that this was going to be a tough year. I have been surprised by the competitiveness of this team. There is no quit. Remember, we are in most games thatg we've played. that can't be sadi for the last couple of years when the score has been 35-0 at the half. People are complaing, but remember this is a young team that psychology has taken a beating the alst couple of years. This what I expected form this season. The team has bben more competitive, more exciting and in the game. Let's all be patient, because the best is yet to come. Not this season, but in the seasons to come. GOOOOO ZIPS!

Plan on getting there early. It is Marathon Saturday in Akron. We will be parking in lot 73 around 7:00 and then going downtown for awhile to see our neghbor finsh. Then taking a shuttle to the game.

Amen. Where I live, I can't use satellite because of tree blockage. So 6 years ago, I went with U-verse. it has been the best thing I have ever done. The installation was smooth and they set-up the WI-Fi for my computers. Have had a couple ofminute problems, but those have been taken care of promptly.

The main reason for the tarping at the RB was safety. That end of the stadium for was literally falling apart. Secondary was the fact that they knoew we weren't going to get enough fans to the games and when the stadium shots were whown on TV, whey wanted to emphasize a bigger crowd than what actually was there.

I was amazed at the lack of students in attendance. The section next to the band was maybe half full (750). And maybe another 800 on the grass. Not only do we need to energize Joe Akron to attend games, we need to find a way to get the students there as well. I know on a beautiful Saturday afternoon that there are dozens of things to do, but it is not like the students have to drive to attend.

Zips football: Firestone grad makes impression
akronad replied to GeorgeThomasABJ's topic in Akron Zips Football
It was great to see Cody back on the field. I know that he was champing at the bit all of last year. I hope in the future more players from Akron and the area are recruited by Coach. -
So, if it is assault, it is OK that he receives 3 years. But.. if it is domestic violence, then it should be probation. What a crock. I know plenty of police officers, and they would much rather deal with anything else than with a domestic violence call. Farmer got the correct punishment!

This is great news. I'm glad that the golf outing is back. I was all set to register, when I was notified that I had to be in Columbus all day on the 11th for meetings. hopefully, I can get out next year. GO ZIPS!!!

anyone planning on tailgating before the Spring Game.

Thanks George.

Illinois will not be conducting a press conference today to announce their new HC. OU student newspaper is still saying this is done deal. This is sounding more and more like us with our search for a fb coacch.
-
It is being reported that Groce will be named Illini HC today or tomorrow at the latest. And few are happy. Mike Thomas is catching grief because of this hire. In fact, they are saying, that he is in over his head. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/11558295-41...ball-coach.html

WOW! Talk about a lack of communications. It seems like they hated each others guts.

Need roughly 120 acres. More than likely, more than that. I see RA as a possibillity in Akron. Otherwise, it will be in one of the burbs.

You're quite right. I was in the business 30 years ago. it wa that way then and nothing has changed. That is why prices at stadiums, arenas, concert venues are so high. I do hope they get the 5 Guys. I would get lunch there 3 days a week.

If anyone were smart in the Atheltics dept., they would bring a travel agency on board. DaVinci's comes to mind. They could get plane arrangements in order, block off a set of rooms at the hotel, and start organizing some side trips (excursions). Now is perfect ttime to start putting things in place.

You omitted HS sports for one year. The man has covered just about everything!

Regardless of where it's built, the team needs to continue winning. We have all seen the fiasco at the Info. Just because you decide to build it, does not mean they will come!
