If the lay that was drawn up wasn't there, that means NU had a good defense. At that point, either yo have a back up play or you scramble. With the limited amount time, it came down to a scramble. I am very unhappy this morning that we lost. But, I saw a lot of poisitive out of the game. Let the team rest & relax for awhile and then let's get ready for next season.

This is where the city and the greater akron chamber would be of the utmost help. Selling the idea to restaurants, cafes, bars, etc that the arena area would be a great place to set up shop and that it is a happening area.

I read this morning, if Washington wins and the Zips win, the Zips will not return to Akron, but will fly toWashington to play on Thursday.

Interesting information. Since, originally, we were suppose to have the Convoaction Center in Akron. Then politics got in the way. IMHO, I thimk that a 13,000+ seat facilty is bit bit much for us. That's a lot of seats. We would be best to have something built in the 10,000 seat range. In planning for such a facility, they need to look at what the draw is now, as well as the uptick draw with a new facility, and how many of those new fans will continue to go to games.

Mississippi St. isn;t helping us. In fact here is a quote from CBS Sports: "Mississippi State is also falling apart at the wrong time. The Bulldogs lost three in a row, including games to non-tournament teams Georgia and Auburn. Those are their worst losses of the season."

CBS Sports has us as a 14 vs. Baylor in Albuquerque.

Back in the early 70's (Waytt Webb Era), Akron was playing D2 baskeball. At that time there were JV games at 5:30 and varsity games at 7:30. During the hey-days, they packed Memorial Hall, averaging roughly 3300-3500 per game. the Student section was the lower level. If you weren;t there by the end of the first half of the jv game, you were sitting upstairs. When it was first announced that they were looking to build a new arena on campus, everyone was excited. More and better seats, would equal more fans. The itnital plans were designed for what is now the CLE Convo. About, the same time, state money got extremely tight and politics got in the way. Cleveland got the Convo and we were relagated to what is now the JAR. From the very first game, I disliked the place and that hasn't changed in almost 30 yrs. We need to go back to a student/fan friendly facility for roughly 7,000 fans. My opinion on funding will come lster, but I just wanted to give some of you a history of Memorial Hall & the JAR.

I don;t care if they show. I'm there to support the Zips!. If I want to see LBJ and Wade, I'll go to the Cav's game on Friday.

All of the above. Plus, the biggest reason...winning! Winning cures all ills. Joe Akron is finally sstarting to see the light and attend games.

It is more than science and math. STEM=Science, Technolgy, Engineering, Math. It is quite extraordinary what these students have done and accomplished.

This is a great move for both the U of A and APS. The university gets the building and parking and it opens up space at the Polsky bldg. APS gets the benefit of housing both the Early college High School and the Stem High School out of 1 bldg. Also, APS saves money in the costs to operate and maintain Central-Hower. It is truly nice to see Dr. Proenza and David James working together to make things better for Akron.
-
I think this is great news. Hopefully, you information is correct. However, it will not be on the site of Central-Hower. That bldg. is own by the Akron Public Schools and they are currently renovating it to accomodate their new STEM high school.

From what I have heard from a reliable HS coach that met with TB this week, TB plans on centering his recruiting within a 75 mile radius of Akron.

Payne was ruled ineligible by OHSAA and he has not enrolled at Firestone. He is looking to finish his prep career at at prep school possibly in California.

Proenza's Ego is Killing Towson Football

This is my thought. That TW never really wanted PW and would make a half ass presentation, so that he could say that he did make the effort. -
This is from Akron News Now. The Rob Ianello era is done at the University of Akron. The University announcing this afternoon the former football coach will take a one-time payout of $250,000 to ease out of his contract. Ianello had three years remaining but needed to free himself to take a coaching position elsewhere; the deal saves the University $750,000 over the three-year period. The deal still requires Board of Trustees approval. - - - (University of Akron) Under the terms of an agreement reached Tuesday, Dec. 20, The University of Akron announced that former head football coach Rob Ianello will resign from the university to accept a coaching position elsewhere. Ianello will forego three years of guaranteed employment with The University of Akron, with a base salary and benefits totaling in excess of $ 1 million, in return for receiving a one-time $250,000 payment – a savings of more than $750,000 in salary and benefits he would have received had he stayed at The University of Akron in a reassigned position for the three years remaining on his contract. The agreement will be recommended by President Luis Proenza for approval by the University’s Board of Trustees at its next meeting, scheduled for January 18, 2012. The University of Akron is continuing its search process for a new head football coach.

Some of you are stating that you don't want this coach or that coach. Well my friends, after 28 days, and nothing on the horizon, I think we better take who we can get. It more than likely will not be the perfect candidate. That has passed us by. I have to believe that the proposal to a coach from TW/LP has not very lucrative.

We're paying a search co. $25,000 for this garbage. A committee from ZN could have gotten it done cheaper and quicker. THE MADNESS NEEDS TO END SOON!
