  1. It would be classic NCAA to open the doors to extended eligibility yet not accommodate with increased scholarships/roster limits.
  2. I'm with you. I anticipated that Dailey and Currie would both be major contributors. Wow have I been disappointed. I kept thinking Dailey would eventually break out but it's just not happening.
  3. You've already given us as much or more info than we'll get from the Beacon!
  4. On a night where Toledo shoots their normal 45-46% FG and 39% on three pointers instead of 50% and 44% and the Zips shoot their normal 46% and 33% instead of 42% and 32% and the Zips make 76% of their free throws instead of 61% , I don't think there's a significant difference between the two. Toledo was sure the better of the two last night but I am not willing to concede they are the clear favorite yet. I think on a neutral floor at the Fieldhouse, I could see the spread at 3, maybe 4, but the teams are pretty close if they both bring their regular games. The first game was more indicative of the talent differential that last night.
  5. As I have stated on here previously, I think the Zips too often get caught with 4 guys on the floor standing still watching LCJ on offense. However, that is now part of the game in the college shot clock era. I heard an interview of Bob Huggins a while back where he was lamenting the evolution of college basketball offense. To paraphrase Huggins, college basketball has become 15 to 20 seconds of teams running their offense, which doesn't work because every opponent has watched hours of tape of that same offense, followed by a pick and roll or isolation with your best athlete trying to make a play. If you watch the Zips, that's what often happens. They come down, you have motion through the offense, no progress is made and the ball ends up back in LCJ's hands to make a play. To our good fortune, he has he ability to do so most of the time. LCJ is actually much more of a facilitator this year than last, on a team that arguably has fewer playmakers. The approach of most teams this year has been to body him up, try to keep the ball out of his hands, focus primarily on him on defense and run him off of the three point line. That tells me that the coaches in the MAC do not believe too much of LCJ is a good thing for them. As for last night, they gave up 91 points so I'd place the loss more at the feet of the defense than the offense. At the end of the day, it was one loss against a very good Toledo team, a team that might well be 2-0 against the Zips if Toledo's coach didn't have a brain fart in the first game. Time to focus on playing Brimfield on Friday.
  6. He pressed a little hard at times tonight but he also appeared to be the only Zip that made the trip.
  7. It was mentioned in the Beacon and he did not play tonight. The official word is that he is out indefinitely.
  8. Nope. Move on from that abomination.
  9. Worst defensive effort of the season by the Zips tonight. Slow on switches...silly reaching fouls...giving up penetration and easy threes... Mama said there'd be days like this.
  10. The Zips head off to the unfriendly confines of the Portage County Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Center to face 10-4/7-3 PCCC this Friday at 7:00. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU (ugh again). PCCC has won 6 of their last 7 heading into the game. 7th year redshirt senior Danny Pippen continues to lead PCCC, averaging over 20 ppg and 9 rpg per game. Portland State transfer guard Michael Nuga has been a very nice find for Mr. Pinky and is scoring 17.8 ppg to go along with 5.5 rpg, but is ailing with a bad knee and did not play against Miami. The PCAAHC has always been a tough place for the ZIps. Maybe without a crowd and with only a short trip for the Zips the place won't give the Flushes too much of an advantage.
  11. ...and cap it with a stupid T.
  12. 5 minutes left and they've given up 80 points.
  13. Only since about 7:01 p.m.
  14. Need to take it at Marreon.
  15. Surprised the Zips aren't pressuring the ball more with Jackson on the bench and the backup PG out.
  16. They are hot but they've also gotten way too many easy good looks. 55% FG and 43& 3-Pt FG for Toledo.
  17. Too easy for M. Jackson to penetrate. WAY...TOO...DAMN...EASY.
  18. Both of our bigs with 2 fouls already.
  19. Just to point out the difference, the most common commercial on the PCCC/Oxford game was for a migraine medicine. We get Versace cologne commercials. Know your consumer!
  20. Marreon Jackson acts like he was shot when he went down on his own, gets a tech with his mouth then gets up unhurt.
  21. Early seat for LCJ, all of the starters out in first 5 minutes.
  22. Thanks Normandie. That was a blast of nothingness. Oh Lord, the Toledo color guy just said "heat check."
  23. Finally a well lit away arena.
  24. Watching PCCC/Oxford. PCC went from 22-15 to 32-22 down including a really stupid technical on Pippen.
  25. Keep Jackson from penetrating, don't give Littleson good looks from 3 point range, don't give up second chance points.
