  1. Mballa + Segu= 9 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist on 2 or 16 from the field. Solid.
  2. Here's hoping Mballa and Segu don't wake up in the second half.
  3. Outrebounded 24-15 overall, 9-5 on offensive rebounds. Ugh.
  4. ...and I had so many other more solid reasons to mock you! LOL.
  5. I don't see them sending the double team at Freeman as Mballa is pretty solid on defense in the post. He was MAC Defensive Player of the Year last year.
  6. The Zips need to maintain their recent improvement in perimeter defense. They did a great job of closing out and playing tighter on the perimeter as the season wound down. Williams and Segu are both decent three points shooters and if they get hot it could really spell trouble for the Zips.
  7. But he did like the Batman movie- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/entertainment/movies/2022/02/28/movie-review-robert-pattinson-brings-different-take-the-batman-matt-reeves/6931565001/
  8. KD was a fine coach. Unfortunately, with coaches, sometimes familiarity breeds contempt in some of the fan base. We had some great times with him but it became almost too routine for some to win 23 to 27 games and the conference regular season championship...wash...rinse...repeat. Without KD the Zips likely would not have established the consistent winning program we have today. We could just as easily be Eastern Michigan if he hadn't built a winning tradition. All that being said, he appeared to have peaked at UA and it was a good time for him to move on both for him and the school. My only regret was that he left the program in shambles as took some valuable players with him that could have helped the transition here. That's all water under the bridge at this point. I'm happy with Groce and I am glad he's here. That doesn't mean I'll feel the same next year or even next week. I've seen a few things this year that haven't pleased me but overall I think he's represented UA well.
  9. Agreed. The MAC coaches give Vander Plas a lifetime achievement award by putting him on the first team. Freeman scores .9 a game less while pulling down over 4 more rebounds a game. He's also a presence on defense. He's more worthy than VDP. For what is is worth, I think Plowden is more deserving than VDP. I'd also take Rollins over Carry for MVP.
  10. While only 14th in minutes per game. Impressive efficiency.
  11. I just hate it when you sugarcoat things. Just say what you mean man!
  12. Here's a good quote from an article I read about KD a couple of weeks ago- “I still think I did the right things by morals and ethics standards, but I still hurt myself, I hurt our school and I hurt our team,” he said. “We had too much bullshit going on and I had enough. We got a bunch of good guys for the most part and we’re not good, so maybe there is an inverse relationship between that GPA and your win-loss record. A lot of coaches will BS you, but I think I overcorrected, probably overreacted.” To summarize KD's transfer pain: Sincere Carry- PCCC- 18.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4.8 apg Tavian Dunn-Martin- FGCU- 21.1 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 6.1 apg Lamar Norman Jr.- WMU- 19.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2 apg Marcus Weathers- SMU- 12.5 ppg, 7.4 rpg,, 1.8 apg
  13. I understand that a PCCC reserve was picked up for OVI over the weekend. Not an important piece but a 10 minute per game guy.
  14. Cameron is about atmosphere, much like the Palestra or Butler Fieldhouse. It's not about the physical plant. When I was there 13 or 14 years ago when my son was looking at schools we wondered the campus and I was surprised that I was able to walk into Cameron and right out onto the floor.
  15. Yikes. 6-23 without a win since January 8th. I guess that's a possibility when you give the players the "my way or the highway" talk and the best ones opt for the highway.
  16. You'd think the staff, like Chad Welker, would throw in some questions to just make it look and sound more legitimate. It would be nice if they could combine it with the post-game radio interview which are often more informative, but Groce has to get back to the locker room after the game.
  17. Booby Hurley is 13-16 this season at ASU. Maybe he'll be available for a return.
  18. Zips Athletics, brought to you by Jackson Pollock.
  19. They've gone from preseason favorite to a 19 win season. I can appreciate their pessimism.
  20. The Zips head north to Cleveland next week, starting the tournament with a Thursday game against our friends from Canada. The 19-10/13-6 Bulls come in off of a losses to PCCC and Toledo while the Zips come off of a close home win over CMU.
