  1. Has there been a single play without a flag yet?
  2. I guess I shouldn't have said rated highly, I haven't seen a good star rating anywhere, but the Maxprep article I listed has him top 100 in the state and I am pretty sure I saw another national site with an article about how he was an up-and-coming player when we first offered him, but I can't seem to find it anywhere now. I don't mean that he should be a 5-star recruit, but he seems better than only having one other D-III offer. I did see that he originally went to a school in Canton. I know that when players transfer it can sometimes lead to them falling through the cracks.
  3. MaxPreps rates him #83 (right behind another Zips RB commit at #81) for the state of Ohio. I am kind of confused by Mr. Sibley. His tape doesn't have anything that scares me, he was first team D II all-state last season, and he seems to be rated highly by recruiting services, yet his only other offer was from Ashland. Hopefully, we just found a huge sleeper.
  4. No, that was definitely a thing in years past. Not necessarily every day maybe, but we should have seen one by now if they were going to happen.
  5. According to App St's website it is true. http://appstatesports.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball
  6. Scouts #10 rated tackle in Pennsylvania. Looks like we were his only D1 offer, but he has great size and strength for a tackle.
  7. 3 other D1 offers, all of which are MAC schools: Kent, BG, and Buffalo. Props to Vincent, he pulled off the rare "blessed" and Akron U in one tweet. Highlight tape and more info can be found here. Hard to get any info from the tape as he seems to be at least twice as big as everyone he blocks in the video
  8. Mike (middle), Sam (strong), and Will (weak) have been used to describe the linebackers on a team in a 4-3 defense for as long as I can remember. Same with the different letters for the different backs and receivers.
  9. The Zips are working on free throws this summer
  10. Multiple offers went out yesterday. I love that they all have "higher" offers already. JG is showing that he is not afraid to fight for recruits right off the bat.
  11. Congrats to Noah. He gets to head home and play for a great team. Seems like the ideal outcome for him.
  12. The Zips have officially announced JG's full coaching staff.
  13. Welcome to SIU-Edwardsville! The MAC is back to automatic bid territory. They have only been D1 since 2008, but won the MVC tourney last season and made it to the Sweet 16 in the college cup, knocking off multiple ranked teams in the process. It looks like they might enter the MAC as our biggest competition.
  14. He is a guy that has never played at the collegiate level and announced his transfer way late in the process. You can be the most talented player in the world, but without tape showing that you are as close as possible to a sure-thing, you are going to end up at a lower level school in his position. By the way, Liberty went 21-14 last season and with the money that they are trowing into their athletics at the moment, I'm not sure that they will be considered a team that is lower than Akron for much longer.
  15. Yes, listed heights have been wrong, but I don't understand never believing a listed height. Is it only a PG phenomenon, or were Big Dog and Kwan both about 6'7" last season?
  16. His official team roster even lists him at 6'1" and 175. But we all know that only means that he is about 4'11" and weighs the same as a toddler.
  17. To my knowledge, you are correct. Whether or not he would have been on scholarship is actually now irrelevant. On this board, we had him taking a scholarship, so either he opened one up by leaving or JG has had an extra one this whole time that we did not realize.
  18. I just want to share something fun. FGCU signs 5'3" PG And we all thought that KD was obsessed with small guards.
  19. I disagree. I have never understood the spurned lover view on transfers. If a player can make the Zips better (and Noah would next year) I want him on the team. Noah is a 3 year starter that has a chance to start his whole career for Akron, that would be awesome. Remember, he announced he was transferring before Antino did. For all we know, Noah might have thought Antino was going to stay. I understand the frustration they both probably felt with never really getting to take control of their position. In the end, I have no source that Noah is even thinking about coming back, but I would welcome him in a heartbeat and I would think that his teammates would as well.
  20. I'm not sure it is either, but I would be surprised if we were able to get a player better than him at this point.
  21. I am starting to wonder about Noah possibly coming back. He has been on the market for quite a while now and I haven't even heard of any teams really showing interest.
  22. As I understood it, Deng Riak already took a redshirt year and will only have two years of eligibility with the Zips. Am I incorrect?
