Speaking of entertainment.  Anyone else notice there was no dance team?  Sounds like they are on probation for something.

Back to the game, I echo what Clark said.  Great game to be a fan.  Wish I would have brought some friends to it to enjoy as that game would make them want to come back.

I have been disappointed with Noah a good part of the season offensively but tonight he had a great game.  Not only was he hitting the 3 but he had some nice penetrating moves and nice dish offs.  I was hoping after the 19 point first half that he would go for 30 but they stopped double teaming big dog and he did not get as many good looks.  I hope that he will keep contributing like he did tonight.  Kwan had another solid game and really had some strong rebounds.  This team is much stronger rebounding team with Ivey and KD made the right decision going away from the 3 guard offense.  This was clearly the best home game of the season.  Marshall ran a good offense and came off the screens very quickly.  They shot the ball well but they are a poor rebounding team and did not have many offensive rebounds.  Did anybody see the Ivey T.  Had no idea what happened.

No complaints.   Awesome, fun game.

Well someone has to complain. After all this is ZNO! So here goes.

We have way too many turnovers. We do not protect the ball. Passing especially under pressure was not acceptable. The whole team needs to improve here. Big Dog played like he had somewhere else to go. He seemed bothered to play D as he repeatedly left his man who then ended up on the end of 2 points. (End of rant) Qwan played a well balanced game. He was in my doghouse last year because he wouldn't rebound, but this year he has turned that around. Noah was outstanding and Ivy showed continued flashes of brilliance. I'm still waiting to see him play a total game, but I love his potential. Also love Hughes intensity. He will be a key player soon. Wish the fans would support this team. With Dayton getting over 10,000 during break and 12,000 when school is in session i don't understand why we are getting 2,000 for a fun game against the Herd. BTW, wish they were back in the MAC.

The Zips did seem to get lost in a lot of switches.  We lost a couple of guys for easy baskets off of in-bounds plays.  It always makes me nuts to see an opponent  score off of a good out of bounds play as it reminds me of the Zips lack of them.  There were plenty of turnovers but I'm hoping it was a symptom of the frantic nature of the game.

Yes, Marshall did a good job of making that extra interior pass for easy baskets.  It was a little frustrating to watch.  I've also always been a little puzzled why our out-of-bounds plays from the baseline are always a lob to Big Dog.  We did the same thing for several years with Zeke.  A lot of people see this and wonder why.

I was happy to see Noah scoring like that last night.  I could see from the start of the season that he was looking to shoot the ball much more this year in the offensive sets.  It makes me wonder how much his injury recovery last year limited his movement, which caused him to struggle to get open looks.  He appears to have so much more ability to contribute points on the offensive end.

No complaints with me regarding the team. Great effort. Wish we could shoot like that against better opponents....Loved what I saw out of Noah. Looks more of what I expect out of him based on his freshman year.

Dance team being on probation would be an interesting story...

Also noticed our "sold out with season tickets lower bowl" was half filled. Would expect better vs Marshall.

My only complaint was the 16 TO. We can get away with that when we are shooting as well as we did last night, but on nights where we shooting at or below our average those can come back to haunt us.

My biggest concern also. You have got to protect the basketball and play a lot safer when it comes to passing and decision making.

Just glancing down there it seems the same seats are empty game after game. I wonder how many of those empty seats are corporate bought?

Yep, that's part of it too.  I know companies that have blocks of seats, and only show up a handful of time a year.

I thought it was interesting that the Beacon reported "huge crowd" of 3.500 in attendance.  That writer will be flabbergasted when he see's the Kent crowd.  Just by eyeballing the crowd, I thought it was pretty unimpressive.

Those attendance numbers are reported by the University and any STH counts towards that number regardless whether they show up or not. I have a buddy that bought season tickets and hasn't even gone to a game yet.

As far as attendance, you have to consider it is a week before Christmas. Many Corporate types have to attend parties. I have several friends who could attend for this reason.

This isn't anything directed towards you at all.  Maybe you do know some people who had this conflict.  But, the list of potential excuses for why a crowd may have been disappointing for a particular Zips sporting event has really reached beyond what I could have ever imagined at this point.

Kreed, it's because everything points back to the same problem.  People don't want to go to Akron sporting events.  Clients and friends know I'm a big Zips fan. They offer me available tickets all the time.  Sometimes I will take them when they tell me "we're not going to use them here...find someone who wants them".  I've had times where I've had my own tickets and their tickets filling up my pockets.  Sometimes a dozen or so of them.  And I can't find anyone to use them either.   I've even stood in the lobby of the arena and handed them to someone walking in the door, especially if it looks like a parents with their kids.

Some people want to support the program.  Some are buying them along with an advertising deal.  There's a lot of reasons why people or companies might buy tickets and never use them.

Remember, our students also have what amounts to free tickets for every game.  They don't want to go.  You have to make people want to go.

Agree with Skip-zip.  I have a very good friend who worked for a company that received free tickets because they were a company that had a contract with the school.  The school gave them two floor seats and four lower reserved seats.  Every season my friend would get all of those tickets for FREE which included VIP passes to the Evans lounge.  He said the tickets and passes were just placed in the lunch room for anyone to take them.  It rather ticked me off that this guy would get all of that for free.  However, that company stopped contracting with the school, and now he has to buy his own.  Of course, all those free tickets got him hooked.  The point being it's just insane that thousands of dollars of VIP tickets were just left there for the taking and no one wanted them.
