Ball State @ Zips- Tue Feb 7th

I heard Kd on the post game show.  On our next to last inbounds play when we were up by 1 he wanted to lob the ball into Big Dog but was persuaded by one of his coaches to get the ball to Kwan.  Akron was afraid that if the ball went to Big Dog they would foul him right away.  If Kwan was not open then Noah was to call timeout.  Instead, Noah threw the ball away.  Why can't Kd come up with some inbounds plays that get the ball into our best foul shooter instead of Big Dog and practice those plays so we do not have crucial turnovers.

Great clutch shot by Big Dog.  Dunn Martin really looks good.  I wish Kd would give him more time.  Poke also played well.   Went 3 for 3 for 6 points, 3 rebounds and 1 block in 7 minutes.  Love watching him dunk the ball and block shots.  Brings the crowd to their feet.  What was Kwan thinking when he took the long 3 when we still had a lot of clock.  Ivy made a great play to get the rebound and then we throw the ball away.  This team is struggling when Kwan struggles.  We really need him to come out of his shooting slump.  Nice to see Josh drive to the basket and score from inside.  We shot 21% from 3 point arc.  It seems to me that Akron is now taking more and more deep threes where we are several feet behind the 3 line.  Not sure but this could be why we are not making the 3 ball.  Great game for the Zips.  Not sure if we top that but looking forward to the game on Friday.

Holy crap!!!  Am I the only one who got tricked by the Gametracker that showed the game going final with Ball State winning 63-62???  I just got home and opened my phone to see how we squandered such a hard-to-lose ballgame.  Hallalujah!  And Mahalo Big Dog!  Oh, this is so incredible.

Apparently not - according to Zips MBB ESPN was confused and as of this moment even the game flow in the ESPN story shows Ball State winning

Yeah, well ESPN was just relaying the info received via the Akron sideline team.  The Gametracker computer program is operated by a person employed by UA, and that is what made me think we had lost!

Is there a video of the final six seconds, after Ball State's last FG?  We went the length of the floor...Big Dog was fouled and made the second of two FTs.  Then...we stole the in-bounds throw??  I'd love to see those 6 ticks.  Must have taken a while to play out.  smh!

I posted a video of Big Dog's shot. That's all I found. Ball State threw the ball out of bounds trying to do a full court pass. That's how Akron got it back.

It looked like the streak was over Big Dog needing to hit the 2nd FT just to tie the game or they lose instead Ball State with the a big choke pass out of bounds sets up the game winning shot.  Just wish I could seen it instead of just listening to the radio.

29 straight!

I watched it on espn3

Portage County Community College and Ball State both make ESPN for their generous gifts last night!

I sure wish someone on the coaching staff with the Zips would take a little time to work out some regular inbounds plays.  That last one worked out pretty well, but I can't remember the last time we actually ran one that looked like an organized effort to set up a good shot.

I know it's probably impossible to confirm unless you were in the huddle before the shot, but was Big Dog supposed to take that shot? Or was the play designed to have Robotham pop out beyond the arc after the inbounds pass and get the ball back from Big Dog?

Z.I.-P.S. That shot by Big Dog was a thing of beauty. Who knew he had that?

There's no way that was the play. It looked like Noah tried to slip inside after he inbounded it actually

KD indicated on the post game that was the play if Big Dog had single coverage.  Give him the ball and let him take the last shot. Big Dog indicated postgame that he practices that shot all the time in practice and knew it was good as soon as it left his hand.

As 1981 grad indicated it was designed to go to Big Dog. Big Dog said he didn't set up any closer to the basket because he felt him leaving his normal spot on the court during inbounds plays would let Ball St know the ball was going to him.
