clarkwgriswold Posted February 16, 2022 Report Posted February 16, 2022 The Zips have another quick turnaround returning from that inexplicable dump they took in Kalamazoo to face NIU at the JAR Thursday night. The Zips topped NIU in DeKalb last Tuesday 70-64. 6’3” sophomore guard Keshawn Williams continues to lead NIU at 16.2 ppg. NIU is 6-16/3-9 going onto tonight’s game against Ball State. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 16, 2022 Author Report Posted February 16, 2022 The Huskies beat Ball State last night to move to 7-16. Quote
LoyalZIP Posted February 17, 2022 Report Posted February 17, 2022 The Zips are somehow 12.5 point favorites. That seems like free money if you take the Huskies. I don't think Akron has beaten anyone by more than 12 except for BG. Quote
Reslife4Life Posted February 17, 2022 Report Posted February 17, 2022 It's a good day to get back in the win column! Quote
AkronAlumnus Posted February 17, 2022 Report Posted February 17, 2022 NIU over the Akron girl scouts +8. Zips are weak mentality and physically. John Groce should be embarrassed to field this team. Quote
zipsrule Posted February 17, 2022 Report Posted February 17, 2022 I would love to see the Zips come out and execute right out of the gate. Good passes and shot selection, energy and aggressive defense. Is it too much to ask for a 6-8 point lead at the half? 1 Quote

They haven't had more than a 3 point lead at half since CMU 7 games ago on January 25th when they led by 7. Edited February 17, 2022 by clarkwgriswold Quote
1981 grad Posted February 17, 2022 Report Posted February 17, 2022 Crappy night, crappy team, Thursday game = crappy attendance. I will be surprised if the jar is half full. Does anybody think the students will come back in force after the last 2 games? Quote

LoyalZIP Posted February 17, 2022 Report Posted February 17, 2022 Dawson and Aziz replace Trimble and Ali in the starting lineup 1 Quote

Maybe, just maybe, it wakes those two up. I think Freeman and Aziz are starting to figure out how to play together. Quote
LZIp Posted February 17, 2022 Report Posted February 17, 2022 Ali has under performed the past few games and probably just played his worst ever as a Zip, but I'm not sure benching your leading scorer for that is the best move. Unless he isn't starting for another reason (in the dog house). Quote
LZIp Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 I love Aziz's energy. Only a freshman.. 1 Quote

Blue & Gold Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 Groce shaking things up. Still no Trimble. 1st 2 subs were Ali & Clarke 1 Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 18, 2022 Author Report Posted February 18, 2022 NIU doubling when Freeman puts the ball on the floor. Quote
Illini Zip Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 (edited) I think we are a little too amped-up for our own good. But I will take that over the alternative any day. I like the starting line-up change. Edited February 18, 2022 by Illini Zip Quote
zipsrule Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 Ali in and just got called for an offensive foul. Too much dribbling. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 18, 2022 Author Report Posted February 18, 2022 Reghi described the JAR as "legendary and venerable" in the intro. LOL. Quote
zipsrule Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 Clarke hits the open three. They don't need to overthink it and try make the difficult shots. Just make the open ones. 1 Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 Are they reviewing that for a flagrant foul? Quote
