Zippy87
Is anyone going to the game? What sections will be Akron fans? Thinking of taking my son but would like to sit around fellow Zips, if possible.

pdt1420
I’m going. My in-laws have OSU player tickets from a dude they know that played there in the 70’s. So I’ll be the one Akron fan down low surrounded by former players, being super annoying when we score first.

Captain Kangaroo
I'm skipping attending the game. Paying a couple hundred bucks to bake in 87 degree heat and watch osu fans dance to Hang on Sloopy 50 times as the Zips get smoked ain't my idea of a fun Saturday afternoon. I still think the Zips 2024 win total resides between 4-6. I think we'll have a decent season. But when the opponent's starting CB makes as much money as your schools entire football budget, it ain't a fair fight. MangoZip
So how about some strategy for this game? I think the only question is will we cover the 50.5 spread? In my opinion the Zips will really struggle to run the ball so Joe will attempt a lot of quick, short passes to avoid sacks. Hopefully most of these don’t hit the ground and the clock keeps running while picking up some first downs. I just can’t see them scoring on this defense unless it’s a busted play. Hoping for a few stops and/or turnovers on defense while the Buckeyes offense gets untracked. Zips get a late field goal to make the final score 52-3. Take the Zips plus the points! Just hoping we come out healthy for week 2.
UA1996MAENG
I live in Columbus, but sorry, Zips, I just can't face this game. I'll open my eyes again in September. The only thing UA gets out of this is money. Everything else is a negative. Pray for an injury-free game.
AkronAlumnus
Not going to be pretty.. I'll go 48-6, Zips to cover.

Ham
The only question for Saturday is how bad the score will be. OSU is loaded with talent, but they can only play 11 at a time. I would think our guys have much more to prove than any of the Buckeyes. Our guys will want to show a national audience that they belong; they will not roll over and play dead! OSU. 48 --Zips.

egregiousbob
This should anger every Akron alum and fan. Yes, OSU's football budget dwarfs Akron's. But it doesn't cost anything to project honor and professionalism in everything you do. That approach influences your players, fans, prospective students, everyone. But this coach shows up for his first "press conference" looking like he hasn't showered or shaved in days. He's a mess. And he doesn't even take the few minutes needed to change into some Akron gear before going on camera. Akron's football coach looks like a schmo. The AD should have a few choice words with him. 1

Sorry to any closeted OSU fans on here, but Ryan Day seems like just the kind of asshole to run up the score on a MAC opponent. If he hadn't fallen into coaching, he'd be ripping off your dad at the Buick dealership.
egregiousbob
Here's how successful MAC programs do it. Represent the brand, project class... https://miamiredhawks.com/news/2024/8/26/football-holds-weekly-press-conference.aspx As the for the Belichick rejoinder...when SCHMO Coach wins more than 2 games a year he can dress how he wants. I think he’d look worse if he was sporting that Arby’s A. 1
csims0917
I think we will cover the -50.5 line. We lost 59-7 last time with a lot less talent. OSU has a ton of new pieces so we could have another slow first quarter like they did last time we faced them. Would be really nice if Finley can get us in the endzone twice to give us something moving forward. As long as we handle Colgate the season doesn't start until Week 5 in my eyes with how we schedule

Maybe he's not dressed like a high school math teacher, but angry? He may not be Brad Pitt, but neither am I. Maybe slightly disappointed, but angry? I wish my life was so easy that something so meaningless made me angry.
