I don't have a strong feeling one way or the other on the women's program other than I want to see them win big like the men. However I do feel the coach deserves another season before judging her leadership.

kreed5120
Leipold inherited a program that made it to back-to-back national championships. I wouldn't exactly say he rebuilt anything. He did certainly improve on what had a solid foundation already. I don't think there is any magical formula for guaranteeing success. Short of backing a Brinks truck up to Saban's house to tempt him to take the Akron job (sarcasm). Successful G5 coaches have come from all kinds of different backgrounds.

A significant number of good players and coaches have come out of that area. Cignetti is only one. Getsy was there for a while and moved up. The head guy now is Paul Torterella. Has IUP a consistent contender in the PSAC which is a tough DII conference. He has been HC since 2017. He has a nice situation at IUP. But a guy like that might be willing to take a shot at a lower level DI program if presented with the opportunity. Speaking of DII, a guy by the name of Brian Kelly did OK up in Michigan before moving on and up. Whether Moorehead leaves voluntarily or otherwise, Akron has to finally look at someone who can bring some discipline and recruiting ability to the program. Lets see what happens with the last few games.

At this point, I'd hire Charles Manson is it meant UA would go 6-6.

McGee saw us play live against South Carolina and took us off his bottom 10 a week or two after. I’m with you, 3-1 OOC seems very realistic next season. I guess if that comes to pass we’ll have to find someone else to fire…

Of course the President new that was coming before he fired Guthrie. If coaching changes are anticipated in the football program how do general budget cuts affect athletics? akrzips2012
I’m all for reflecting this season. 4 wins is the best we have seen in a long time. Let’s give Moorhead another year to build a winning program in year 4 with new talent and growing some we have seen progress with. I suspect couple options. New AD comes in and fires him. Moorhead decides to leave on his own. He stays another year because UA spent too much time hiring new AD and misses on new coach hiring season in December. What you all think happens?
GP1
It seems the new AD has the unenviable task of making cuts. Joe stays because it's impossible to make cuts and engage in a contract buyout at the same time, while at the same time shelling out money for a recruiting firm to find a new coach. Oh, then there is the cost of relocating a new coach. I would like to see Joe come back for one more season. If he fails after four seasons with a more favorable schedule, then it's time to part ways. There is nothing keeping Joe in Akron now. He could very well depart on his own. If he leaves and there is no AD in place...... I'd rather not think about that.

After Tyrrell’s 25 point loss to Avon, I’m guessing it’s Eddie George’s job for the taking?

UA1996MAENG
https://footballscoop.com/news/asked-about-his-future-at-akron-joe-moorhead-shrugs-and-mentions-lack-of-resources For most of Moorehead's three seasons, I bounced from "give him time" to "fire his ass" and now I'm back to "give him time". For many reasons, it makes sense to to keep him, but now I'm afraid he's going to resign due to "lack of resources". If he stays I think UA has a chance to win 6 or 7 games in 2025, but that all depends on what happens in the portal in a few days. Will he stay? Can he cobble together another roster to compete in 2025?
