pdt1420 Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Alot of threes rattling out. And we need a guy who can rock a two handed dunk (looking at you, 32) Quote
Zippy87 Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 (edited) At some point JG has to acknowledge that the way he wants to play doesn't vibe with the talent on this team. Coming into tonight we were 5th nationally in 3-point attempts but 136th in 3-point percentage. We aren't an especially good 3-point shooting team. I'm not sure what the answer is, though. Okonkwo isn't skilled offensively and Lyles is allergic to the paint, so you can't play inside-out like in the past. If Harris can come back (no idea?) I thibk he definitely helps. But right now, we just aren't very good and I don't see it getting much better. Edited January 4 by Zippy87 Quote
Reslife4Life Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Groce isn’t going to change up the style. He will say “These guys shoot the lights out in practice, it just needs to fall in the games” that’s not a knock on groce, I do believe this team can shoot, it would be tough for this smaller team to play differently 1 Quote

And part of that is because, as you said, it may be the only way we can win with almost no size. The roster construction really limits how we can be successful. 1 Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Nothing says unwatchable like your team hoisting 50 bricks from behind the arc over the course of 40 minutes. 1 Quote

I wouldn't look at it as changing the offense but instead playing at a bit of a slower pace. We take so many bad shots early in the clock. You can absolutely change that at any time. ewbrooman1 Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Can't have your only inbound option to a guy that's gonna get trapped. 🤨 Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Zero coincidence the comeback started once the ball was put in Sharron Young's hands. 1 Quote

MDZip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 It's got to be tough for Bowling Green. To lead the entire game and to lose to a team that beats you damn near every time has got to be disheartening. 1 Quote
Zippy87 Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 That was ugly. BG is not a very good team. Sharron Young stepped up in a big way and was the difference down the stretch. Such a valuable playmaker and advanced basketball IQ for a true freshman. He's going to need to be a big part of what we do if we are going to have a shot at winning the MAC. Quote
Illini Zip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 We need to ice the game from the line. We had two shots. But I’ll take the win. Quote
The Hip Zip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Well, we won a game on the road that we had no business winning. Quote
NeoZip Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 Sharron Young has such high iq. Once the physical development catches up he’s going to be a monster. 3 Quote
