No big mystery here. Miami shoots almost 40% as a team from 3. Gotta make them put it on the floor. Zips need to play smart and use their athletic advantage. Bring it home!

They've definitely shot the ball well from deep in the tournament:

vs EMU - 12-29, 41.4%

vs Kent - 11-30, 36.7%

Beyond Suder and Craft no one from Oxford much worries me.  Don't give Craft open looks and put Nate or one of our better defenders on Suder and their offense will struggle.

Their length vs ours concerns me. Gotta keep Okonkwo and Lyles out of foul trouble.

Our athletic guards should have a huge advantage. Another big game from Nate.

Late it the game a Miami guy (Craft) hit that nice corner three on the move. That’s so hard to defend. It would be nice if Hardman mastered that during the offseason.

Hardman has improved greatly already this year. He does have a ceiling in terms of defense, but it’s great seeing him drive and finishing at the rim on occasion.

Their length is quickly neutralized by our athleticism and their lack thereof. Miami is a one trick pony and that's only good enough to be competitive.

Kent shot 35.9% from the field and 29.2% from 3, yet that game came down to the wire. Miami shot 36.7% from 3 and was barely able to win that game.

The only team that can beat us is ourselves. If we execute, we're going dancing.

You have gozips.com credit: They certainly know how to encourage Zips fans to attend Rocket arena and watch the Zips get to NCAA tournament with the following headline banner:

Watched the Toledo press conference after the game. You almost feel bad for Kowalchoke. He seems beat down and they've been one of the best teams in the conference the last few years.

Almost is the key word here.

Mr. Pinky really has his work ahead of him putting together a squad for next year with the losses of Sullinger and Davis.  I root against them but those kids are quality players and among the MAC's best.

I hear he's asking every girl on Kent's campus if they have any boyfriends that play basketball. He's trying to summon the Sincere Carry magic.

Zips have come out shooting 3s the last two days. They’ve gone in which really opened things up. Same formula tonight or do they try it in reverse, drive early and open up the 3?

I think Travis has PTSD from the Zips start against them earlier in the season and will focus the defense on the three pointer, so I wouldn't at all be surprised with your scenario.

Think that’s the way to go. Zips were so efficient last night getting to the rim against a much quicker team. Spread that floor and put Miami on skates tonight.

My only concern is losing people on D. Discipline on that end going to be critical. Have to stress those shooters just enough. Long rebounds are what they are. Gonna give up some of those but stay connected to those shooters

We have never trailed this whole tournament. The fast starts have been huge, we only shot 7 threes in the first half yesterday, 4/5 before the first media TO. If we can get a couple good looks from deep right out of the gate I like our chances tonight

I liked how the Zips mixed things up las night with a (non 1-3-1) zone at a couple of critical points.

I felt like they torched us when we went zone. Gave up to many easy baskets and rebounds.

Interesting quote from Sullinger after the PCCC loss-

"Like Von said, we played hard. We just didn't win," Sullinger said. "We all expected to win. We thought we were going to win. We just didn't."

I'm not sure if that's optimism, arrogance or overconfidence.

I agree, good question. Especially considering Miami had won the last 3 matchups going in.

Watching the Akron v Toledo replay. Lyles was in good position under the rim, outside the restricted circle and is knocked to the ground twice and is eventually called for a blocking foul. Great hustle and defense on his part. Just another tough day at the office I guess.

I think it's fair to say they cast off the choke collar in this year's tourney, winning their first game and hanging with us to the end, putting up 90.

It won't disappear until they win a tournament. 45 year tournament drought for Toledo. Kowalchoke 22 years into being a D1 coach has still yet to make the tournament.
