clarkwgriswold Posted March 22 Author Report Posted March 22 Just now, Westie said: Nate’s problem is he’s 6-3. If he’s 6-7 with his style, he could be effective outside the MAC. He still gets wherever he wants on the floor, but against this level of competition, no dice. Yep, he's a small forward in the body of a guard. Quote
Westie Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 No reason at all we can’t rule the league and give this another shot next year. 2 Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 A Mount Saint Mary’s-esque tournament beat down. Quote

This team beat no one outside the MAC. I fully expect them to be in the finals next year and if they get in...another blow out, unless we can bring some tall athletic guys. Quote
dirtyolcrowe Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 That rumored big from the Big 10 better be Greg oden-esque Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 It’s never a positive when your team is quoted as receiving “an absolute beat down”. Get that YSU center asap. Quote
RoyalBlu Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Why does the MAC/Akron always draw these West Coast teams in the NCAA Tournament. Quote
tboned Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Thanks for the Season guys. I had a lot of enjoyment watching our team this year. Good luck to the seniors, and I hope everyone else returns next year. Thanks to the coaches as well. GOZIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 Quote

MDZip Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 (edited) Not to pour too much salt in the wound but out blocked 9-4, out dunked 10-1, and outrebounded 53-20. 53 rebounds is the most rebounds any team has ever had in the NCAA tournament since 2003. Exactly zero of the things that we said needed to happen to try to win this game happened. Still a great season though. Thank you Zips. See you in November 😊 Edited March 22 by MDZip Quote
Phootss Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Tough defense in the first half kept it close then Arizona’s athleticism took over in the second half. The 3pt shooting was horrible! 1 Quote

But they all played like they were just happy to be there. Hopefully it's a learning experience and most of the team comes back next year to run it back. Quote
ZippyforPresident Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Congratulations on a good conference season, Zips. Wish this game had turned out differently for you guys. I'm sorry. Quote
kreed5120 Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Akron's only stayed some what in the game during the first half because of Arizona's 12 turnovers. Once they solved that in the 2nd half, they could do pretty much whatever they wanted in the 2nd half. I would have liked to see Akron scheme more ways to create looks beyond the 3-point line instead of attacking the rim. Trying to trade 2's with Arizona was never going to be a winning formula. In general this was a very poor matchup for us. They both had size and their bigs could run the floor. There was very little we could try to exploit. Quote
tolbob Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Lost the three point shorting contest 48% to 28% to a team that shoots around 30% for the season. Zona's 3 pt defense better than MAC teams. Quote
HoopsFan03 Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Great season. If everybody stays, we will be better next year. 1 Quote

Arizona was the best team we played all year. He had some good looks but could not hit. Quote
Reslife4Life Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 The worst part is that there are basically no moments that make this game worth rewatching Quote
