I think Joe Akron doesn't know what to think because he doesn't really follow the team closely enough. If Joe Akron is treated to an exciting game with maybe a last second win for the Zips, he might come to another game. 

 

I don't think most MAC fans care about this game, but they should. How the league plays against like opponents is important.

A win would obviously be great but more importantly, they absolutely have to play well and look like an organized, disciplined football team. If this team comes out and has multiple turnovers, stupid penalties, metal errors, and bad decisions I will lose faith in Coach JoeMo.

The portal has obviously hurt this team and to some extent, Joe can’t control the talent level on this team, but they can play smart, disciplined football and improve their odds of winning. A sloppy loss tomorrow will be a very bad indicator of where this team is headed.

I got hired in the IT department at Akron and since then the men’s soccer team is 2-0. I bought season tickets for football soccer and basketball. Hope I can keep the streak live tomorrow 🙏. Gotta love week 1 optimism

I wish I cared more about this game and the program in general. Some of that is how incredibly mismanaged this program has been, pretty much since Bowden left. Part of that is what college football has become, with the gap widening every year between the major and mid-major programs. Part of that is knowing that even if we do have a good season, we can't go to the MAC Championship or to a bowl games. I used to go to every home game, and now I may go to 1 or 2. And what really sucks is that I know I'm not alone. 

 

I love Zips athletics with all of my heart, but I'm more invested in soccer now and looking ahead to basketball. Kudos to those who still go to games and support the program, I hope the program doesn't take you for granted.

Laventure - 16 solo tackles 25 assisted 4.5 sacks D2 good numbers but listed at 6'1 270... very athletic hopefully can holdup with the big boys

Frazier twins - 2 games combined 0 stats

Mixon - 2024 did not play, 2023 Did not play

Murphy - 8 games 5 tackles

K. Cheatom - 138 snaps - 6 solo tackles 3 assisted 1 sack 

 

They say the games are won in the trenches.  I don't doubt these men can do it but be ready for some growing pains....

I have noticed that there are things promoting a "fan fest" starting at 4. I haven't seen really anything about what it is, but I hope that it is similar to what they used to do in the fieldhouse before the games back before covid, will be nice to be covered in case it rains

Just noticed on the game timeline that was just emailed that there is a Fan Fest before the game.  Does anyone know if that means Lot 9 will be closed today?

Just found out from the Ticket Office that Lot 9 will be open.  The Fan Fest is happening in Lot 8.

ESPN+ houses most Akron football, men's soccer, and men's & women's basketball games. $12 per month gets you all that plus more. If you have kids or grandkids, the Disney+ bundle is one of the best deals in streaming. Now, in 2-3 years, I fully expect these services to be $80+ per month like YouTubeTV and other top streaming services have become, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. 

 

We have a party of 5 going to the game tonight. It'll be both my daughters' first night game at the Info, and my first night game in quite some time. Hopefully once the rain ends, it's done for the night, because this has the chance to be a very fun season opener for the Zips. 

 

This game will be won in the trenches. Does our OLine give Finley time to get the ball in the hands of our plethora of playmakers and open holes for our stable of RBs? Does our DLine get pressure on Wyoming's QB? Do we see a continuation of pre-snap penalties on both sides of the ball that have hindered this program under JoeMo?

This game has been a hot topic at work today, and maybe for the first time ever, everyone else is more optimistic on akron than me for this game. I still think we go 6-6 this season, but I'm gonna need to see at least a little bit of this team before picking them to win their first FBS game

Yeah I cancelled ESPN+ after basketball season ended and really don't want to resubscribe. I'll wait to see how the season starts before committing to another streaming service.
