NWAkron Posted Wednesday at 03:22 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:22 PM Key Voting Details: Football: Head coaches vote on All-MAC teams and specialty awards. Basketball (Men's & Women's): Head coaches vote on All-MAC teams and specialty awards. Restrictions: Coaches cannot vote for their own players. I wonder if the fired coaches bothered to vote! 2 Quote

Or it was quietly discussed to make sure Miami OH has the best player to help their image. By the way, coaches who are canned in the days following their season's end shouldn't be allowed to vote. What in the world do they know about talent? Not enough to keep their job. 20 minutes ago, Illini Zip said: They might also expect Tavari to win Tournament MVP. Sharing the love so to speak. Even if Miami OH loses 1st round, I'm half expecting the tourney MVP to be Suder still. We will be so lucky just to breathe the same Rocket Arena air as him. If that was the case they simply would have given it to Gillespie. Unlike Suder, there was actually an argument to be made for him winning it depending on which stats a voter would prioritize. IMO voting has just turned into giving it to the best player on the 1st place team. It's a similar model that the NBA has been running for what I'm guessing to be 2 decades now. Well, they gave it to the most ball dominant guy on the first place team. 1 Quote

Let'sGoZips94 Posted Thursday at 06:58 PM Report Posted Thursday at 06:58 PM My 6 yo daughter was working on her penmanship during homeschooling today. My wife was having her write the letter "Z" and she kept making it big and wide. When asked why, my daughter said, "That's how Akron's Z looks." Her younger siblings have a lot to live up to. She's setting the bar high. 4 Quote

She and her younger sister know the fight song words almost as well as the Lord's Prayer. I think I'm allowed to be proud of that. It's funny, she reads basic kids books and I'm half expecting a grad school brochure from Kent to appear in the mail any day now. 1 2 Quote
1981 grad Posted 13 hours ago Report Posted 13 hours ago When looking back at the Zips season, they had 5 losses and three of those losses were away losses to teams that made the NCAA tourney including Purdue, Miami, and Troy. The Yale loss was on a neutral court and one of the best games all season and that game went back and forth till the very end. Yale is in the NIT and lost out on an NCAA bid in overtime. The away loss to Murray State was our only bad loss of the season. 2 Quote
