clarkwgriswold Posted yesterday at 08:24 PM Report Posted yesterday at 08:24 PM Penn State heads into their Ohio swing Monday with a game at Youngstown State before they come to the JAR Wednesday night. The currently stand at 1-1 coming off of the Bryant & Stratton portion of their schedule, beating Bryant & Stratton Rochester while losing to Bryant & Stratton Buffalo. They're likely the shortest roster the Zips will face with 5 guys 5'11" or shorter. Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago Where's the Purdue thread? It's Beat Kent, Purdue, and UConn week. Quote
Illini Zip Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago I know many people on this forum don’t care for these games against Division 2 teams (or worse). They don’t bother me as much, but then again I’m not a season ticket holder. They do serve a purpose. I just wish I could watch it on ESPN+. Quote

The Zips players shouldn’t look ahead, but I don’t see why us fans can’t start talking about Purdue a little early. Purdue page please. 🙏 Edited 19 hours ago by Illini Zip Quote

Reslife4Life Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago This would be a really good game to make an education day game for local school kids. Either way bring on Penn State* 1 Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Actual Penn State played at New Haven by the way. New Haven apparently gave up 2-3 free pay games in future seasons. Quote
kreed5120 Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago (edited) New Haven is in it's first season of D1. Penn State probably felt it was easy practice for their players to get experience playing on the road without the risk of losing. Edit: I can't imagine it has much, if anything, to do with money. Pay games in college basketball aren't 7 figure costs like football. Penn State could have found a home game for under $100k if they really wanted, which to them is pocket change. csims0917 Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago Like I say every year this is a tune up game for the zips. Score 100, get every non redshirt in the game (really wish redshirts could play. Would make these a lot more interesting) and stay healthy. Nobody plays more than 25 mins and get ready for Purdue. Lots of upsets to lower divisions this opening week of CBB. Don’t be another statistic! Quote

zippy5 Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago PSU shenango is one of the few branches that was recently announced as shutting down in a couple years once current students finish their studies. A shame for them and for the local landscape, the sports programs are all new in the last 7-8 years and have had relative success for starting programs from scratch. Not to say I hope we don't win by a million but just some background on the local branch 2 Quote

Anyways, win by 100 and don't have any injuries occur. Edited 5 hours ago by Let'sGoZips94 1 Quote

Yes, not like it's in an undeserved area either. Its like 25 minutes away from YSU. About an hour outside of Akron and Pittsburgh. There are plenty of other places for those students to go. Quote
