Tells me you can possibly get in their heads a bit. SLU's goalie got a yellow card during PKs for throwing the Bryant goalie's water bottle over the large screen behind the goal. I personally wasn't impressed with either team, so if SLU lacks mental and physical fortitude, advantage Akron. 1 Quote

Wow. 2 Big Ten 2 Big East 1 ACC 3 Whatever the Heck Conferences And by seeds that reads as #'s 4, 7, 8, 14, 15, 16, and two unranked. Crazy tournament. We are as good as anyone remaining, so why not us? 1 Quote

There is a lot of physical conduct on the pitch but after the game the players shake hands. The game is over, the better team won, have some class. I don't condone fighting or destruction of property, and I don't particularly like seeing an away team heckle the home fans and players. However, if I condone home fans getting in the heads of players for 90+ minutes, then I don't feel that I can be a snowflake when it's over and the away team does a little jawing when they prevail. Curious, where was this discussion at the end of our game at Creighton? Edited Monday at 11:51 AM by Zip_ME87 5 Quote

Curious, where was this discussion at the end of our game at Creighton? I agree. I thought I saw our team jaw a little bit after the Creighton game and I did not like it. I think it starts with the coach. Can anyone see our basketball team heckle the home fans after a basketball team? I cannot see Groce tolerating it. The only time I remember this happening was when the Kent team heckled the rowdies after they beat us at the jar a couple of years ago and everyone on this board commented how the Kent team had no class. If the Zips win Saturday we can put this topic to rest. Quote

I personally love the gamesmanship and quite frankly, with how sad the last PK attempt by Bryant was, they deserved everything they got lol. With that being said, I like Akron being the more composed, controlled, and skilled team on Saturday with everything I saw from SLU. 1 Quote

I actually felt sorry for the player that kicked it. What was he thinking? Also, the first guy who missed a PK did not play in the game but came off the bench cold. My thought at the time was that was a mistake. Happy that it worked out for the Zips. Quote

The 2025 tournament has a particularly high PK rate so far - looks like 20% of results (8/40) were decided by PKs. I counted only 5 last year (and only 4 in 2023) and one was the semi between Denver and Vermont. Let's hope that PKs have had their moment and will now hibernate for the rest of winter. 1 Quote
Zips1991 Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago I didn't look into the reason behind it because I'm lazy but I see that the Georgetown vs NC State match was moved to tomorrow afternoon. I assume weather related? Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago (edited) A Furman defender just headed a Portland shot off the goal line with 30 seconds to go, up 1-0. Oh. My. Goodness. Looks to be a large crowd in Portland. Edited 18 hours ago by Let'sGoZips94 Quote

UAZipster0305 Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Just as notable, with Portland losing, the #8 seed is now out. Just #'s 4 Maryland, 7 Georgetown, 14 Akron, 15 NC State, and 16 Furman remain. Maryland must be feeling very confident. Hopefully overly so. Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago #4 Maryland loses at home 3-1 to unseeded Washington.. It will be Washington or Furman in the final. Absolutely unreal tournament results. Quote

And I am in Raleigh right now, so if the Wolfpack win, they essentially get a home game right next door in Cary. Woulda been way to convenient for me to see the Zips in the College Cup, which is probably another reason it didn't happen. 1 Quote
MDZip Posted 24 minutes ago Report Posted 24 minutes ago So the Big East had two chances to get to the College Cup and got neither. The College Cup will be a 15 seed, a 16 seed, and two unseeded teams. St Louis last won in 1973, and none of the other three have ever won a national championship. 3 Quote
