The Zips head to Mount Pleasant Tuesday to face the Chippewas.  The Chipps are 9-19 heading into Buffalo today but are 8-4 at home.

CMU's offense is pretty balanced with 4 players averaging between 10 and 12 points.  The Zips beat them at the JAR 82-69 on January 6th.

I know we often talk about the Kent State hangover, but yesterday’s game didn’t strike me as physically and emotionally draining as some in the past. We didn’t start the game with a tip-off scrum for one. I’m sure there will still be a tendency for a let down. Don’t do it Zips!! Handle your business.

CMU has played pretty well at home this year going 5-3 in conference. They are the only team in the Mac to not have a road win this year. They beat Kent and BG at home, this is definitely not automatic, need to keep our heads on straight and focus on the game at hand

If CMU loses today, they would be eliminated from MAC Tournament contention and the game would likely be much easier for us. However, they're currently up 8 with about 4 minutes left.

UMass is losing too, which would create a three-way tie for 7th through 9th. Three teams for the final two spots.

Lots of talk on the site about other topics, so I thought I'd try to move things back to today's game. CMU has been playing pretty well especially at home. What does everyone see as the keys to a Zips win tonight?

It's almost a little disappointing that we drew CMU at this point. Beating them probably means they'll miss the tournament and I'd be happier to see them than I would say UMass or Buffalo.

CMU's fate actually comes down to Ohio winning tonight and CMU beating Balls on Friday. Should that occur, they will be the 7 seed vs. Akron in R1.

It feels dirty rooting for Ohio.

Yeah, really the best way to ensure we play CMU in the Quarterfinals would be if we lost to them tonight (although it still wouldn't be locked in). But obviously, that is not something I can wish to happen.
