where would the Zips be had the Abreu situation not happened? probably the ACC.

I was devastated that night when the news broke.

There have only been two Zips teams I felt could legitimately make a run in the tournament. The 2012-2013 and 2019-2020. Abreu weed shipment and Covid ended those dreams.

I winter in the Tampa area so getting to the game would be a breeze, but at $250-$700 for anything below the nosebleeds seems excessive. Think I’ll grab some steak and lobster and watch from my recliner. Does the school offer tickets?

The Athletic department sent an email out earlier this afternoon saying tickets in the Akron allotment are now on sale. $175 each.

I enjoyed this blurb at the end.

I am a huge proponent of great bars with Touch Tunes jukeboxes. This one is in the Hyde Park neighborhood close to downtown.https://www.retreattampa.com/  Easy Uber from downtown. Some bars in FL that operated before smoking bans took effect were grandfathered in and still allow smoking. Many banned smoking anyhow because of the cultural change. This one still allows and is a great place to drink, listen to music and smoke a cigar.

This place shares the same block as Retreat. https://www.chantarestaurant.com/ European style cooking. Eat dinner and then go smoke a cigar and have drinks.

The next morning, go back to Hyde Park for brunch at Willa's. https://www.willastampa.com/

Said they were the last team in. They were 1 more bid thief away from missing the tournament entirely. Got lucky once again.

This actually is not true.  They said they were the first of the 4 teams that were last in to get in so it would have taken 4 more bid stealers to knock them out.  They said once they selected all 68 teams they did a seed scrub and as they compared Miami OH vs each of the other 3 teams in Dayton those other teams won out with the predictive metrics and pushed Miami OH to the last team in the seed list for at large teams.

They first select all the 37 at at large teams then they seed them.

WAB was 37 for Miami OH a big reason they were safely in the field.

Their NET of 64 and kenpom of 93 are a big reason they got pushed below NC State, Texas and SMU for seeding purposes.

Yes, I am aware. I made that post during the selection show when the matchup was first announced. One of the committee chairman came on later in the show to clarify.

Tonight's a win/win. Either Miami wins and the MAC gets $2.1 million or Miami loses and they're forced to eat humble pie.

Exactly how I was looking at it! And if they are going to lose, I hope they get blown out. That seems unlikely in a mostly even match up though. If they win, I think they will get smoked in the next round against Tennessee.

I don't think that's inconceivable. Miami struggled with big, skilled front court players all year. This game could potentially get ugly quick if they don't find a better way to defend the low post or rebound well.

I think the spread is all but guaranteed money. SMU is just a horrendous matchup for Miami OH. I love it.

Yeah, I got a $10 free bet from DraftKings that can only be used on college basketball and I was gonna include SMU on the spread in a parlay of First Four games. But then, for the vibes, I decided to use it on Akron making the Sweet 16. So, when that happens, I'll be $200 richer. 😆

Is the team still in Akron? Haven’t seen anything on social media for send off or arrival in Tampa

Groce said on the radio yesterday that "tomorrow morning we will be heading down"
