GP1 Posted Wednesday at 10:24 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 10:24 PM It's going to be 91 degrees at kickoff, but it's predicted to only feel 98 degrees. I don't say this lightly......be careful of how much booze you drink, drink lots of water and try to stay out of the direct sunlight. My first Wake game was almost two decades ago when they played Nebraska at noon. There was one unprepared Nebraska fan being hauled out after another because of the heat. It's hot here in a way you aren't used to in Ohio. Be smart. Quote

I cannot wait. i've been waiting a year for this trip and for this day to come. 1 Quote

Just walk to the Wake side. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago sun won't be too much of a factor since it's an evening game. it will be getting dark by the 2nd quarter.. Quote

The black chair back seats on that side might even cool down by the fourth quarter. God knows that because of the specific heat of concrete, it won't cool down until October. The visiting team's band has it the worst if they bring one. They get stuffed into the last place to get shade. Don't doubt me on the heat factor. Be safe. Quote

exit322 Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago From the gozips.com game preview notes article (that says absolutely nothing) "Joe Moorhead, an inspirational leader of student-athletes and one of the most ingenious offensive minds in football, was named the head coach of The University of Akron football program on Dec. 4, 2021." I guess "inspirational" takes until Year 5 to manifest? Quote

Frankly, this is fireable, unless we get the "Brock Purdy over Trey Lance 49ers" result from Broughton or Roggow. 2 Quote
ZipForNow Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago Is it possible that something unfolded after he transferred due to various judicial rulings so that what looked like a pro forma waiver of an eligibility restriction was off the table? Quote

I need to get the full story before I react, but I definitely think fans deserve an explanation on what is happening. Quote

Captain Kangaroo Posted 5 hours ago Author Report Posted 5 hours ago Zips flag flying in the Midway fairgrounds parking lot. Reminds me of the good old rubber bowl days in Akron. We’re the only ones here in a grass lot that could fit 5000 cars.😀 1 Quote
kreed5120 Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago When your a program like Akron, who has the 2nd lowest football budget in all of FBS, you have to take chances. Even if they thought there was a 50% chance of getting him another year, but viewed him as a massive upgrade over any other player they could have potentially landed it would be worth the risk. Right now Akron basketball, based off Rothstein tweet, has 2 players seeking a 5th year of eligibility. Both of which would probably be Zips starters next season if they get a 5th year. That said, if both get denied then I don't think anyone would try to claim that as a fireable offense for Dustin Ford. 1 Quote

If Dustin Ford had a 27% win percentage over four years exacerbated by a recruiting screwup where the only other options available have 17 shots attempted in their combined college careers, and all of the offseason camp was used to get the ineligible guys ready until the actual preseason started, taking away valuable reps from the guys who have that combined 17 shots in their college career...Yeah, it would. This isn't a one-off "well, we tried" like those two guys and Ford. This is just another piece in what's turning into a rather long pattern of Moorhead just not being a very good hire. If those two guys don't make it with Ford? He's still got a team that's going to be playing on Friday in Cleveland at worst. Now with Broughton and/or Roggow (unless they're actually good...in which case why are we taking their reps away for a potentially ineligible guy who hasn't actually played in three years), Akron's quite possibly looking at 2-10 in the face again. BUT - Tonight is the beginning of a new season, and I desperately hope I'm wrong. Edited 5 hours ago by exit322 grammar Quote
