  1. Past hour
  2. My thought about the chaos is this. It seems to me that P4 conferences are benefiting from the chaos. They are making money hand over fist and opportunities for success in P4 have increased. Indiana vs Miami seems to pretty good evidence. The transfer portal and player payments don't seem to keep people away from attending or watching games. I don't know why the P4 schools would want to reign any of this in given money is their driving motivation. It seems to me that pushing the greed to see what the breaking point may be is the most logical course of action.
  3. It was an ignorant tweet. If he actively scheduled 3-5 games against teams like Yale, McNeese St, any of the top half teams in the MVC, etc. nobody would be commenting on the lack of a P5 game on their schedule. If anyone did risk assessment it was Miami. Actively avoiding quality mid-majors, but expecting a mid-tier (not a Purdue, Alabama, UM, Duke, etc.) to agree to play you. Edit: I will give him Wright State as a quality mid-major. He needed another 2-4 (excluding SunBelt challenge)
  4. Sayler is getting destroyed in the comments. The facade is fading quickly for Miami OH.
  5. Lots of talk on the site about other topics, so I thought I'd try to move things back to today's game. CMU has been playing pretty well especially at home. What does everyone see as the keys to a Zips win tonight?
  6. I know Dakich is polarizing - and I don't know if I was naive for thinking otherwise here - but I did not realize refs are paid differently depending on the home team's conference. If that's true, that's one of the biggest flaws in the entire system.
  7. This reminds me of an airport recently 'banning crocs and pajamas'... is there really a promo that says that 'swearing will not be permitted?' 😂
  8. Probably 25 years ago my softball team played in Kent, and went to Ray’s Place for post game beers. One evening they held “Pimp and Ho Night”. Several guys in fur coats and fedoras with their over-make-upped girls in fishnet stockings vied for a cash prize. Those were different times…good ones tho’ 😀
  9. Or continuing to open the door for greedy lawyers to uncover the next supposed loop hole allowing them to file suit on behalf of some 'student' athlete willing to go along with it and therefore pausing any forward progress. I'm just disenchanted and not as optimistic as you are that the current state of chaos has any near term resolution. But I'm hoping I am wrong, you are right.
  10. Today
  11. Yeah, I think Akron would be favored by 3-5 points on a neutral court right now.
  12. I think that was a safe assumption before this. 😅
  13. Akron would be favored on a neutral court at the moment
  14. Not sure why it would matter for us when the last time Miami was the 1 seed. I'm more pointing out that our team is used to going to Cleveland without being the favorite and still winning. Although I'm not sure Miami is much of a favorite. If Akron and Miami do meet in the finals I think it would pretty much be a pickem game.
  15. Whomever our Promotions Director is will not be working in the Atlanta Hawks organization any time soon.
  16. This thread got your attention? 😂 Per @zippy5 suggestion, this is a new thread for a topic that came up in response to a comment from @ZipsFan31 asking about the Zips Fan Council announced on Dec 10: https://gozips.com/news/2025/12/10/general-akron-athletics-launches-zips-fan-council Now, if you choose to engage in this topic, just remember the wise words of @NWAkron 'Everything one reads on the internet and the speculation and assumptions that follow are always true' and the follow up noting there's a troll tied to this topic that is being fed...maybe referring to me?! Not sure, I simply responded to the question about the Fan Council with an admittedly snarky reply that maybe he'll get to it when he's done interviewing for the open AD job at Syracuse. I also shared that the relationship to John Groce in the midst of a likely Syracuse MBB search could be a feather in Goodrich's cap, as source mentioned to me that he was specifically playing this up. Worth noting, in the other thread there were a handful of reactions including @Hilltopper stating today he isn't getting the job and wasn't a finalist. That could very well be. I've heard and read an assortment of speculation, including that he has interviewed for and is squarely in the mix for the open AD job at Syracuse. To me, until the announcement is made on the new AD, anything can happen. Today Syracuse announced its new Chancellor, the first domino to fall...an internal guy that likely worked with and knows Goodrich. My perspective, whether finalist or not, hired or not, is his candidacy makes sense if you read his Akron bio -- he was a Deputy at Syracuse and his bio shares many specific highlights about what he did there that seems to matter to all programs these days...NIL, marketing, butts in seats and on the former Chancellors leadership team. Alas, here we are, cheers @zippy5, a dedicated thread as it plays out in the weeks ahead for those whose interest in this topic may be tangential. No matter, if he stays, which according to Hilltopper sounds likely, maybe we'll hear if the 'unsubstantiated' chatter garnered him a raise/extension in the near future (hat tip to those that follow the BOT notes), maybe we'll hear who made the Fan Council, and for sure we'll continue to #maketheclimb (cue the logos and fancy fonts)!
  17. It's about money. Miami's look by the selection committee will be VERY quick if they have one loss and particularly fast if that loss is by a few possessions or more.
  18. Miami has not been the tournament top seed since 2004-2005.
  19. The thing is that's subjective. I don't think anyone can really argue that Miami's résumé is at least on the bubble and deserves a look. From there it just depends on how one weighs things. That's the problem with a committee picking the teams. Everyone has their own opinion and weighs things differently. What you might feel deserves more importance @clarkwgriswold might not or vice versa.
  20. But $2 Bud Lights are.
  21. what we want is different from what "we" or "they" deserve.
  22. Jesus Wins!!
  23. Friday is not only senior night but it's Faith and Family Night. Swearing in the stands will not be permitted.
  24. I love how quickly the sports world forgets about the cheaters and liars
