I didn't notice this before, but Akron is the highest rated team in the state of Ohio. Below is where the traditional contenders for that title are currently ranked. Ohio State - 63 Dayton -88 Xavier - 102 Cincinnati - 154

Naaaaaaah, he has plenty of guards.

Groce whiffed on Freitag, right?

Played left tackle at JUCO, but he’ll likely slide inside for us. -
That had to be the most awful PK I have ever seen. I actually felt sorry for the player that kicked it. What was he thinking? Also, the first guy who missed a PK did not play in the game but came off the bench cold. My thought at the time was that was a mistake. Happy that it worked out for the Zips.

Mr. Pinky is always at least a year behind Groce....NIL funding....up tempo offense.....

I was curious were Akron ranked in terms of NCAA team offense leaders. Turns out we're 5th at 96.1 points per game. But, more surprising was Kent State at 3rd with 97.2 points per game. That hasn't been their style in recent years. Although, I guess it wasn't our style until last year either.

There's a lot of speculation that those "personal reasons" are highly correlated with alcohol consumption, but I have absolutely no first-hand knowledge of that.

I hope that Zips Men's Soccer alumni players as well as the coaches instill in our players to not take SLU for granted even though the first meeting was a lopsided 3-0 result. SLU is doing as needed to survive and advance on the road. Danger! Beware! -
We didn't even get 20 minutes! 16 total minutes for the season he was here!
-
Same here. Thanks for the explanation @Let'sGoZips94.
-
If only we could have gotten 20 a game out of our Wisconsin transfer (Taylor Currie).

I was thinking about that last night and thought naw, the B1G skews pretty far west. Then I remembered they've added Rutgers and Maryland on the east coast, so maybe. And then again, for members on the west coast it would be about the same difference. And who's to say Cleveland couldn't start up its own bowl game?

Wrong thread by a couple of years but Mark Stoops is out at Kentucky. And incidentally, Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades is stepping down from both his duties for the Bears and as the College Football Playoff selection committee's chairman for "personal reasons," according to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger.

Very true, although I think the Big Ten re-ups with Lucas Oil for one more go-around since the area around Haslem's Playground won't be developed right away.

2025 NCAA Tournament
Let'sGoZips94 replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I personally love the gamesmanship and quite frankly, with how sad the last PK attempt by Bryant was, they deserved everything they got lol. With that being said, I like Akron being the more composed, controlled, and skilled team on Saturday with everything I saw from SLU. -
The one obstacle would be if the B1G decides to relocate from Lucas Oil. B1G current deal with Indianapolis conveniently expires in 2028. Just in time for the Brook Park stadium
-
I caught the yellow card but didn't know what happened. Yikes.
-
I can almost guarantee this will happen. The MAC moved its offices to Cleveland, the basketball tournament is in Cleveland, and the MAC will want to plant its flag at Haslem's Playground. With the massive renovation happening at Cleveland Hopkins as well, I'd imagine Cleveland will become easier to fly in and out of, too.

Bringing this information here as it's more pertinent. @kreed5120 did the top 5 MAC teams in another thread, but I want to expand on that so we can laugh at Ohio. Akron - 42 Buffalo - 87 Miami OH - 108 Bowling Green - 111 Toledo - 150 Kent - 157 EMU - 170 UMass - 208 NIU - 257 CMU - 285 Ohio - 287(!) WMU - 292 Balls - 340(!) For comparison, if I'm not mistaken, the MAC had 4 teams in the top 200 to end last season. If this trend of 7+ teams in the top 200 continues, look for the MAC to be both very competitive and highly thought of come March (in comparison to previous years). Top 200 Teams by Non P4 + Big East Conference: America East: 1 American: 7 ASUN: 2 A10: 9 (8 are top 100) Big Sky: 7 Big South: 2 Big West: 7 CAA: 7 CUSA: 5 Horizon: 6 Ivy: 4 MAAC: 4 MAC: 7 MEAC: 0 Mountain West: 9 MVC: 8 NEC: 3 OVC: 3 Patriot: 3 SoCon: 3 Southland: 5 Summit: 3 Sun Belt: 6 SWAC: 0 WAC: 4 WCC: 7 The MAC is positioning itself to be in the top half of conferences, which is a huge improvement compared to recent seasons.

That certainly plays a part. The formulas also while involving many of the same criteria weigh things differently. I'm not sure where Buffalo would be ranked in kenpom without the preseason expectations built in. We will find that out in early to mid-January when it gets completely phased out.
